I agree with most that Toney shouldn't even be fighting still, but I have to admit that I'm now more likely to watch it with him as a participant out of curiosity. I think that will be the same for most of Joe Public. A decent business coup from Matchroom, provided it doesn't have a tragic end.

I always watch it, but to people who are not normally interested it will make them watch it.

Decent is not a word I would have used.

It's going to take more than James Toney for me to waste 3 to 4 hours of my life on Prizefighter. Still feel it's a waste of a date by Matchroom however I know others like the format.

I won't be watching it.

I will always watch Prizefighter purely because you never know if it is going to end up having a load of good scraps. There have been some Prizefighters with very weak lineups that have had a load of crackers and some with stronger lineups where it has just been boring fight after boring fight.


The issue people have with Prizefighter now is the lineups are usually pretty weak but people have to appreciate the guys who are going to enter this are either journeymen or guys trying to get themselves into line for an English or an Area title shot.

Why are those days long gone?

Prizefighter is a great opportunity for a fighter and the line-up should be much better than this.

To be fair, you can't argue with a prizefighter tourney with a few other up and comers on the bill on a Thursday night.

Toney or not, I would have watched it.

Because the quality of Prizefighter now is that much lower than it was a few years back. It's just the way it is now, it's gonna be journeyman and guys just below British title level.

I don't think these are the best eight they could have got for this tournament, not at all. The line-up is abysmal.

Because of the Prize structure I think it is always going to be about this standard now for the heavyweights. I don't think many top 30 heavyweights would be happy to box 3 times for 32 grand at the end of it.

I disagree. When PR first started, especially among the HW division, you had guys like Kevin McBride in it. There was always journeymen and fringe hanger on's or complete unknown's in PF.

Desperately poor line-up and Hearn should deserves a lot of stick for putting Toney in there but its live Boxing on a Thurs night so I'll be watching!

Prizefighter always throws up a good fight or two.

Actually when it had a big name line up of El Maachi, Junior Witter etc was the only time it really stank.

Great venue, cameras always smack bang into the action. It's boxing fodder no doubt, but entertaining.

A good prizefighter with decent names in it was the one with Derry Mathews, Choi, Gary Buckland and Gary Sykes. Decent fights and a few shocks.

Personally I don't mind watching what could be classed as mid-British level fighters in a knockout tournament. Boxing doesn't always have to be at the top level, does it? Fighters with weaknesses are interesting to watch.

Call me crazy, but I reckon if Larry O and Toney come through the quarters .... That big Larry has a chance of clubbing Toney to a 'British stoppage' and Handing him his first KO loss.

I think the fact that it's on a Thursday night is the biggest/best reason for watching it.

What other sporting event will be competing for our attention tonight?
