More than just 'fighting in the ring', as that takes courage, but not necessarily brains.

Not to say that intelligent men have not stepped into the Ring, as many were sharp minded.

But, does anyone come to mind as a 'coward', or behaved in a 'cowardly manner'.

A person who lacks courage when facing danger or difficulty, not neccessarly in the Boxing Ring,
but being fearful and/or acting cowardly because of avoiding a commitment, duty or honor.

A person who would show mental weakness, as being ineffectual 'milksop'.

If you ever boxed I would say you...

what a rubbish thread - boxers are allowed to be fearful in the ring. if Julian Jackson intended to throw a punch at me i'd be fearful and do my best to get out of its way.

crap thread

It's all a windup.....we all know he's about to reveal to us...."the truth of the matter".

Don't be surprised if some very well known individual/s are named in this shocking expose.

Be prepared for the fax. Gird your loins. Get your hanky's out......cuz he's gonna break some hearts here.

And leave us all wondering and asking ourselves...."how was I fooled for all these years".?

REMEMBER:
Il Duce= Integrity, Honor, responsible demeanor, and well reasoned logic. With a pinch of newly revealed fact/factoids, unleashed at this time to amaze, mesmerize and astonish!

Stay tuned!

There's a lot of tomato cans that just get in the ring and lay down the first time they take a halfway solid shot...that's a bit cowardly I'd say, but for the most part Boxing by it's very nature is not a sport that attracts the feint of heart.

James "The Harlem Hammer" Butler definitely qualifies historically as one of boxing's biggest cowards.

Can't possibly imagine who Il Duce is referring to.

If only there was some hint in his previous posts as to who he might consider a coward...

It can't be Clay/Ali thats for sure. To face the beast that was Liston, a fighter who hadn't lost in almost 10 years and who destroyed Patterson twice in the 1st round, at the age of 22 and after only 19 fights that took some guts. Especially after being flattened by Cooper in his previous fight and having his confidence shook.

Agreed. And as if that wasn't enough he later took on the man who had destroyed Joe Frazier and Ken Norton.

I wonder who this mystery coward can be?

Maybe its one of the old timers like Dempsey who refused to fight black men?

Need another clue?

He has been banned from several boxing forums over the years for constant lying.

Wouldn't Foneda Cox have more courage than Cassius Clay.

I'm looking for a 'Coward', someone who may have agreed to perform a Duty of Honor, and
then took the 'easy' way out.
Wasn't Cox the guy who claimed Liston threw the fights with Clay/Ali?

Mmm, could well be be.

Didn't Jack also skip WW1?

And we know The Duchess has strong views on draft dodgers.

Anyway, all we know for certain is that not even a retarded fantasist would put Ali in the mix.

So Dempsey refused to fight black men and was also a draft dodger. That sounds quite cowardly to me, must be him. Surely?

EDIT: Dempsey was a women beater too wasn't he?

Glad you included your own badge of honor story within the parameter of "courageous"

You ol' Medi Vac pilot you! Thank you for your service! If indeed you ever witnessed such things.

On the other hand, even a half witted pseudo journalist with the "courage" of their convictions would be able to say these words. "I harbor some deep bias and resentment against this man for the following reasons:

And then simply list their reasons.

I know someone who flatly denies all bias when directly asked. Yet this same person offers up a veritable plethora of chronic comments and insinuations that appear to belie this. Surely anyone able to pass the "foggy mirror test" and capable of utilizing the "preponderance of evidence" measure.... would quickly ascertain this so called "reporter" or wanna be "journalist's" transparently duplicitous ways.

A person such as this, could be considered "lacking in courage".

Well it's only a guess but we know it couldn't possibly be Ali.

Of course, The Duchess may well be privy to top secret info that clears Jack. A bit like those city records he has on Denver that he can't post as he has to protect his source.

How about ex champ Kid McCoy who shot his wife dead? That's a pretty cowardly act. Could this be our secret coward?

Il....may I call you ill?

Ok..just kidding about the "ill"

I can certainly be wrong. And it is within possibility that I am indeed wrong.....In which case, I

have treated you unkindly, and made rash and harsh assumptions.

Is this what has happened?

IF so...Surely you will have the capacity to recognize how I might have gotten the wrong impression.

and if you are wise and fair, you will of course forgive....and proceed with your sharing.

Once convinced of my error, I will attempt to atone for my over reaching statements. I would even

offer up an apology if the situation requires one.

Can you suggest for me, an appropriate remedial course of action?

I personally view a coward in a sport as being some one who continues to
fowl and break the rules while knowingly doing so while intentionally harming
their opponent outside the rules in place agreed upon by all parties,

To me this is cowardice.

Then again I view John L Sullivan rocking up to a fight drunk and then
not fighting as being both cowardly and arrogantly disrespectful.

Good analysis.

A fighter who intentionally fouls, with repeated 'illegal tactics' would be considered 'a coward'.

Muhammad Ali did use 'over' 213 holds, and '147' Fouls, and '51' illegal cuffs against Joe Frazier in
their 2nd-Bout.

Including an intentional attempt to thumb Joe in the eye, and a knee-to-the-groin.

I'll bet you gave a knee to the groin or two trying to defend yourself when the neighborhood girls were stealing your lunch money... In fact I bet you were even able to deter one or two.

I think yure too harsh on yourself, some of us are born to write, some of us are born to fight... wanting to write about it rather than do it doesn't make you a coward. The real cowards are the people who sit behind a pc and denigrate certain fighters when they have never so much as spat in a bucket themselves. They know who they are.
