I watched this press conference earlier and I get the distinct feeling that Degale isnt happy with the way things are going with Mick. Maybe Im reading too much into it but have a look at this and tell me what you think ..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBw5ZOtRMTY

That looked painful. I've seen people sat waiting for the dentist who looked more comfortable than Mick and DeGale.

I had heard rumours that all was not well between them. He's treading water, getting more experience, climbing the rankings, so I suppose its been a year of unspectacular but necessary progress for DeGale. I can't for the life of me see how Mick can step up from these sort of shows, to deliver a WBC title fight for James in the UK live on Channel 5. DeGale has no following to speak of, the venues are crap, and I can't see Channel 5 stumping up hundred of thousands to fund that sort of fight. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see it.

i wouldn't expect to see a title holder come to the uk for degale.
if he want a title he'll maybe have to do the travelling.

his best chances are if bika beats direll and james gets himself in a mandatory position. then james can travel to fight him in the states.

or if he were to fight the groves vs froch winner, it would sell well over here and the fight would be on sky.

there should be options but its not going to be on degales terms. but when you dont hold all the cards you can't expect everything to land on your lap.

how does that effect degales standing with the WBC if durell wins the belt.
would that knock degale back down the list and mean he has to wait longer on direll being made to fight a mandatory

or would he still just be one final eliminator away from direll?

in which case i'd still expect degale to have to make the trip to the states

Im really not sure to be honest! I think Periban might be in front of Degale in the rankings anyway.

Mick seems to be hoping beyond hope that somebody comes and offers James a shot out of the blue. If I was Degale I would be unhappy - in Micks interview it sounds like he will be lucky to be boxing in front of 2000 tomorrow. How different him and Groves careers have gone so far.

i think they said in that video that periban would be the final eliminator for bika. so probably the same if dirrell takes the title

He's probably still under contract. Also maybe he thought he'd give Mick a second chance to deliver. I reckon Eddie would sign him given the chance as it makes for some more big domestic fights. Groves - Degale 2 would be big I think!

He clearly doesn't look happy there and in parts was really awkward.

If Mick doesn't get him a WBC Title fight next year he has failed him. Not to slate Mick too much he comes across as a good bloke and I think he has done an amazing job with Tyson Fury in terms of matching very wisely in order to get him to a final eliminator for a world title. He match Eubank JR great last year IMO but he has stagnated this year.

He just can't compete with Hearn or Warren. I noticed Galahad was sat behind Eddie tonight why would he be in London for Prizefighter ???

Then again I've not been impressed with Degale recently his fights have been good to watch I just think they have been harder/more competitive than they should have been.

Anthony Dirrell is nothing special; I think Bika will defeat him.

He has speed and power. I dont think Dirrell has fought to the best of his ability so far because his career has been stop-start due to illness and injuries and stuff. Bika looked pretty awful against Periban who isnt that great lets be honest.

And Dirrell squeaked by journeyman Don Mouton, who isnt that great lets be honest..

I saw that fight. Dirrell looked like he was going through the motions to me. There's been a fair few fights over the years where a guy has looked crap against poor opposition.

So then what's the issue with Bika not looking good in beating an unbeaten contender like Periban?

Because he looks like he's fading to me. The Bika of old would of beaten Periban more convincingly than that IMO. Dirrell looked bored fighting Mouton to me hence why I think he was going through the motions vs showing his best self. I guess we'll see in December either way.

Hasn't the WBC ordered Chavez Jr v DeGale for the final eliminator? Can't see how fat Mick pulls that one off

What do you mean? It could still happen but Degale would most likely have to go to Mexico or the states for it.

Remember when Al Legedly signed Groves, and DeGale got the hump about it?

I can't take too James . Yes no one can fault his pedigree but he bores the life out of me
