Who wins right now?
And who do we think will go further?

Up to now you have to go with Joshua.

obviously it's hard to tell this early, but i was thinking hughie looked every bit as impressive in his first few fights.

i can't believe that fella tonight took fury six rounds

i'd probably lean toward joshua right now as well.

all aboard the sky sports hype train :D

The Darch fight in December will tell us a lot, but so far he is progressing fine. I'd pick Joshua probably.

Joshua, comfortably. In answer to both questions.

I've just quickly watched Huey Fury vs the Croat AJ just fought and the things I noticed:

-Fury looks a better schooled more natural boxer, Joshua looks a little stiff.
- they are listed as the same height (6'6), but Fury looks taller against the same opponent. Perhaps it is their fighting stance?
- Joshua looks in much better shape (Fury is only 19 tbf and much younger)
- Joshua clearly has more power

50/50 fight IMO at the moment.

Good assessment.

To give Hughie his dues here, he's a boy still.

That's what ive thought about Joshua for awhile. He's clearly got a lot of natural attributes but something about his stance or im not really sure what looks a bit rigid to me.

Here is the link to Huey fighting the same opponent Anthony fought earlier.

I think everything I said above is fair. Huey definitely looks the better 'natural' boxer and you can tell he has spare gears to go through when he actually has to get in a fight.

Also consider he has literally just turned 19, the age I believe Joshua started boxing!

AJ has the eye catching power, but Fury has the style and skills. Give him 4 years so he is the age Joshua is now and Fury will be leagues ahead of where Joshua is now.

A great fight for the future :TU:

I think there is one thing I notice with Hughie. He steps off rather than knocking his opponents out. It's like he knows the rounds are more important than the KO.. In my opinion Joshua wouldn't be able to settle and get his punched off as Hughie is slicker and faster with a lot better movement.

In saying that I believe Joshua's best chance of beating him is now if he fights him in 2-3 years he will have no chance. Joshua is a gold medalist at the Olympics should be fighting better quality fighters

That would be murder!!!

At this stage, may I add. Joshua is a supreme athlete & so much more mature. I'd actually say fury has a better skillset in terms of chin down & looseness, but can he grow into a heavyweight & develop the strength & power which ain't there now, but it will come & it has to grow significantly imo

Interesting that people see Fury as having more room for improvement. I know he's a good few years younger, but I imagine he has been boxing for a lot longer than Joshua has.

Good point but what are you getting at ?

Too me Joshua needs to up his opponents level & fight less with quality high sparring inbetween fights.

It's the age old Boxrec approach.

Joshua, an Olympic gold medallist, needs to fight Fury sooner than later because in a few years time 'he has no chance'

In 2-3 years time Joshua will have improved also.

What are the chances they never fight each other?

Hughie is already showing plenty of flaws. Probably the first decent sized heavy with good cardio will go to town on him. He's looking increasingly predictable. Joshua has a much better skill-set, not to mention strength and power.

You learn more from rounds than knocking bums over in a round or 2 ask David Price and Tyson Fury

Yeah Mike Tyson didn't benefit from that.

Toying with a punchbag longer than needed is overrated. Price effed up by going from Grade D fighters straight to grade B. Tyson Fury took a better route, gradually stepping up.

at least mike tyson fought twice a month and thus got over that bum beating phase quickly. they seem to try the same with joshua. makes no sense to have two months between bum fights, just get out of the gym and into the ring.

that being said joshua would have beaten hughie even with 0 pro fights. he is just a lot better (but to be fair also 5 years older).

i love the Joshua matchmaking atm

just fight everyone who extends Fury (Darch)

and the guy who went 8 with chisora is next i think.

its all good.

sadly tho we live in a different age now....and whereas in the past this would have been nicely built up to become a major domestic scrap....no promoters have the inclination to do that. look at the waste that Haye and Tyson have become.
