Why?

Top 10 definitely, you could make a case for him being Top 5 maybe, but I wouldn't put him there.

He was a top fighter but I feel he is very overrated.

Why do say that he is very overrated?

Had he not of regained the title after twenty years I don't think he would of been considered an ATG.

When ranking Foreman, you have rank him according to what he did & reigning as HW champ in the 2 greatest eras of HW boxing, 20 years apart is truly remarkable.

Foreman had many limitations, but even with these limitations, it took only truly great fighters to overcome him at his fearsome best.

The way he destroyed Joe Frazier was beyond astonishing & he's probably the only guy in history who could have done that to the great Smokin' Joe.

He's a top 10 HW easily & I would have him just outside the top 5, but I wouldn't argue with anyone that puts him in their top 5s.

Destroying another unbeaten, in his prime, all time top 10 heavyweight champion with ease is quite a legacy.

win or lose, the guy was ... interesting.

I have him #5 and wouldn't have a problem with him being anywhere between 3-8. Definite Top 10 all time Heavy and top 100 fighter.

I have always had him in my top 10. These days he probably sits somewhere between #6 - #8. He was an olympic gold medalist. A two time linear heavyweight champion. Has wins over Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Ron Lyle and Michael Moorer along with a few additional contenders, prospects and tough customers. He was really only beaten by elite level fighters and most of his defeats came in his forties. He was only stopped once by what most consider as the #1 heavy of all time. He is the oldest man to ever capture the heavyweight crown, and before Hopkins beat Tavoris Cloud, was the oldest man to win a title in any division in history. He also at one point held the highest win/ko ration for whatever that's worth.

One of boxing's most devastating punchers of all time. That has always been his legacy. He will always be remembered as pound per pound greatest punchers. I rate him at #6 or #7 at hw and a top 50 all time p4p fighter. Big George was a great fighter.
