He's back in action tonight, almost two years after losing to Brandon Rios for the WBA lightweight title. I've always enjoyed watching him and happy he's back. Hoping he will get in the mix in the domestic lightweight scene.

Could see him having some good scraps with the likes of Crolla/Rees/Mathews and maybe pushing on to another world title shot if he can find his best form again, but time will tell.

How far do you think he can go?

Who is training him now?

not sure whos training him, but know a few people who have sparred him whilst hes been getting ready but not heard great things, apparently Joe dropped him a few weeks ago in sparring with a body shot and the same from another lad the week before, rumouors i know i hope hes coming back fr the love of boxing and not for money though

I think that he has peaked in terms of the level he has boxed at - but that is in no way a criticism !

He has a couple of years out and if rumours are to be believed he hasn't exactly lived the lifestyle of an athlete.

As you say, there are some great domestic fights out there with the 3 you mention. Hopefully all the boxers will want to fight each other rather than going for some spurious title against some unknown.

Here's a recent interview, he knows he's running out of time so wants to move on ASAP.

He's only 28 though which in boxing terms isnt that old.

Warren. He is letting him fight on Coldwells show tonight thats why.

He got the win last night, stopped his opponent in four. Called out Derry after the fight, think he could do with a few more rounds under his belt before that fight to be honest. Derry is on a bit of a run at the moment, which will continue if he beats Ormond which I think he will.

How did he look?

Took a few too man off a smaller many in the first few, but after 2 years out he will be rusty. Then slowly got better as the fight went on.

Makes sense! To be fair he's never been a slickster either though so with two years out on top it's natural really.

is he trained by arnie now might be wrong but sure i read something a few months ago totally forgot about the show last night wanted to watch it on the app

I worry about the amount of shots he takes, he took a lot of punishment from Mitchell and particularly Rios. He seems a good guy and I hope things work out well for him.

He gives a very good insight into the reality of being a pro boxer, and the comparison to football and the PFA's role was interesting. Barry McGuigan said in his book of the Professional Boxers' Association that he set up, that in the end there's only so much you can do to help people who won't help themselves. I reckon plenty of boxers are advised by people close to them, whether that be family or friends, to look after their money and to think about what they will do after boxing, but like a lot of young people I expect most would have a generally short-term view of their futures and don't have the realisation of just how quickly you get older and can't do the things that you used to anymore.
