I watched the first couple of rounds on the midnight showing last night.

Tell you what I'm gonna miss Sanders. Not many heavyweights have hands as quick as that. It's really, really exciting when he lets rip (with punches).

And who said he was in terrible condition? Okay he was carrying a little but Corrie has never, ever been musclebound and he is 38 after all.

Sanders is a funny fighter, IMO he doesn't punch properly but still generates alot of power. But compare him to when he fought Wlad, the gut is bigger.

Yeah he really shouldn't be a banger with a punching style like that, but he bloody well is.

It's a shame the Tua fight never came off. IMO Sanders is the one guy on the planet with the punch to take the Samoan out.

No doubt it was an entertaining fight. Vitali showed Sanders a lot of respect, and rightly so. Corrie was quick and dangerous on the counter. I wonder how the judges had it?

It's strange how he hits so hard, because he's an arm puncher really, I think it's because his opponents don't see them coming, he whips them in from a wide arm which means that as they land the opponent is unsighted.

I've noticed that a lot of fighters who get knocked out are unsighted at the time.

Remember Michael Dokes getting absolutely mullered by Ruddock, he never saw the uppercut which ripped inside his guard, and his head literally whipped back on it's axis.

Stu I've done it again, edited your post instead of quoting... Sorry had to delete it.

I was trying to say that Sanders has a much more severe punch than Tyson now because he's so much quicker with it.

Tyson could not KO Tua IMO.

Don't worry, I have come close to doing that aswell on a few occasions.

We'll agree to disagree - I still think Tyson is the fasted handed Heavyweight out there. Klitchko managed to slip a few of Sander's wild swings? Would he with Tyson?

I think Etteine, Saverese, Golota would agree with me aswell.

No I'm not one of those guys who still thinks its 1988, Tyson's footwork is the major thing thats slipped with him. His handspeed and power are still A1.

For all that handspeed he still barely managed to lay a glove on Lennox Lewis though. Tyson has the power obviously, and can swing those shoulders wildy for a couple of rounds, but as for having "the punch" to surprise and KO David Tua I believe there's only one man in the world up to that job. Corrie Sanders. And he's retiring which is a bugger.

It wasn't a wild swing that landed on Etteine, Saverese and Golota - they were beautifully timed (something Sanders isn't the best of) blurs.

Tyson's handspeed does deteriorate when he is overweight as was the case vs Neilson and Lewis. He won't KO Tua at 17+ stone, but at around the 16 stone mark, Tua is a gonna.

Another fighter to consider is Hasim Rahman, he actually did put Tua down in their last fight (albeit after the bell, but neither fighter heard that).

This is 2004 though Stu, Tyson has admitted that he doesn't know if he can ever get back in shape again. 4 years ago I'd have given Tyson a great chance of KO'ing Tua but not now.

Lots of people reckoned that Tua "slipped" against Rahman but I thought it was a genuine knockdown. Tua was taken by suprise right at the end of the fight.

Golota was as strong as an Ox in that fight. that shot should have knocked him out yet it barely put him down..... he nearly stayed upright and got up straight away..... STRONG MF

Showed he still had the offensive skills vs Etteine to beat anyone. That was only last year. We'll see how he looks in July (the scales will say the story IMO).

Come on mate Etienne was hopeless (and chinless), that's why he was the comeback opponent.

As for Tyson fighting again I'll believe it when I see it.

Tua is hardly going to be in the best of shape either, the fat dough-ball.

I don't think Tyson has the flexibility nor the snap on his shots any more to stop a really iron-chinned opponent.

That was a genuine knockdown in my eyes too, thought not a heavy one.

Tua could of been one of the most dangerous heavyweight ever, he just didnt have great defense speed, he didnt know what to do when having a jab against him

Now all you tightwads have seen the fight does anyone agree with me that Sanders came away better than Klitschko?
I can't help but like Sanders and although I was almost certain he was going to lose I didn't want him to be humiliated. His handspeed was quite amazing. His walk forward no defence-no fear take Vit's head off with a haymaker tactics made a very low quality bout entertaining.

Anyway he's clearly a tough old bastard who's bound to have risen in the estimation of most who watched the fight. He was unable to land often enough as was outlasted eventually. But that must be the most vunerable Klitschko has ever looked. He was very tentative and the look off total shock in his face and that exaggerated blinking after he took a shot
didn't speak of self confidence. He won and I won't try and take anything away from him but he certainly looked much less impressive than last time bouncing Bubba Johnson off the canvas last time out.

I'm wondering who has the best chance of beating the new champ. If 6'4 Corrie with a longer reach according to the stats can't easily land a headshot when Vit leant back - someone has to try to take it to his midsection. I can't think of a current top heavy who well to the body though...
