Did round 9 actually happen?

I keep seeing messages like "groves was robbed" "he should be champion" as if round 9 didn't happen. He was more than likely on his way to being ko'd. The previous 8 rounds mean f all when you're about to be knocked out.

Ask George Groves, because he knows what was going to happen.

Why was he more than likely? Because he is 'chinny'? Even though he stood toe to toe with Froch and backed him up for 8 rounds.

Football is a game of two halfs & boxing a game of three quarters & groves dominated for 6rds not that froch took over but started being effective & sharing rounds.its a blessing in disguise for groves he could never of imagined how tough that was going to be!!

I've just managed to watch the fight for the first time, and it was hardly the dominant performance people were saying! Knockdown was brutal, but Froch seemed to have shaken it off, and whilst Groves definitely performed above my expectations, and was indeed leading, most of the rounds were close, and I felt he'd shot his bolt after that big attack in the 6th. The 7th and 8th were both Froch rounds for me, and he was coming on and looking like himself. If it weren't for the knockdown and resulting 10-8, I'd have assumed he was on his way to win either way, and I really don't see Groves coming back into it; he'd been ebbing for a while. It's not impossible that he would have found Benn or Eubank like second wind and come back, but I'm not buying; once Froch is on top, he stays there, and I think whether he'd stopped him there in the 9th, or later, Groves was in for a world of pain.

Have you not paid attention to what people are mad about?
Obviously round 9 happened (duh!), but the referee shouldn't have stopped it when he did. Maybe Groves would've been stopped anyway and maybe he would've gotten a second wind and survived; we don't know because Foster jumped the gun.

It's a case of the underdog doing so much better than expected. The knockdown obviously had a huge effect on Carl and took him several rounds to shake off the effects.
Groves didn't choose to get in a brawl with Froch. He was dragged into one.

he already has said he wasnt buzzed and he took a couple of good shots but thats what happens in a boxing match you tend to get hit... the first time Froch actually did something apart having his face used as target practice....

Groves Armada, did you see Groves' face the next day? Looked like a body-double for Rocky Balboa!

Nothing that happened in the fight suggested Groves was going to be knocked out. Its crazy that an undefeated fighter ahead on ALL scorecards, after having the champ down quite heavily in the first, and having rocked the champ several times throughout the fight, plus in a world title fight, gets stopped in that manner. If Froch had been stopped in that way do you honestly think he would sit back and accept it?
I've seen amateur fighters take more punishment than that without being stopped !!!

To be fair Groves is ginger, so he has pale skin making him mark up easily, Froch hardly looked great either.

Being a ginger doesn't have any effect on swelling.
According to some, Froch barely landed a shot, so Groves must self harm.

Pale skin makes bruises show up more easily though and gingers do have pale skin, must be because they have no souls.

Good riddance to Groves Armada!
And that ginger thing is the biggest load of rubbish I've ever heard. I actually like Groves, and wasn't amongst the idiots booing him before the fight and then suddenly wanting to make love to him afterwards, but these excuses people are making up for him are ridiculous!!!
