Just a thread to talk about the fight. I'm sick of reading about Froch and Groves now. I cant be the only either. There's about a million threads on it!

I always find that when there is a big boxing event ie Froch Groves. General interest is rekindled in the sport throughout the public or at least for a short while and I hope some of that interest will spill over into coverage of Bellew Stevenson.

Whilst last weekend was a great fight and will go down in British boxing domestic folklore it was essentially a fight to be crowned the 2nd best man in the division. Bellew has a legitimate title fight against the no.1. It is for the lineal light heavyweight championship.

As far as the fight goes I think it wil be tough for Tony he will need to establish his jab and gain Stevensons respect. Otherwise he will try and bulldoze him early. The problem I have for Bellew as much as I want him to win is I feel even if he gets a decent start he does seem to lose a bit down the stretch.

Im looking forward to this fight though think it should be entertaining.

I'm with you mate .... it's always good when boxing gets into the "mainstream" the only issue I have with it though is it brings out a lot of casual fans who think they're boxing experts all of a sudden. That can be a bit grating.

I am still struggling to believe Stevenson has suddenly turned into this monster, its not so long ago he was just a contender who had been knocked out by Boone and clearly had dodgy whiskers.

Now after Dawson and Cloud he is the best light-heavy in the world!

Just not buying it at present, may be spectacularly wrong on that count I fully accept that but Dawson always had an average chin, he seemed to struggle immensely loosing the weight to get down to face Ward and may well have fucked what was left of his career doing so. Cloud I readily admit I fully expected to give Stevenson a big battle but again Adonis did the job easily and effectively.

There were some rumours around Cloud before the fight people were saying he was not at the races and it certainly seemed so, however, is it fair to assume that, perhaps it was just Stevenson being a vastly improved fighter.

I really don't know what to make of Adonis at this time, the one thing I do believe is that Bellew has a decent chance in this fight but to win for me he has to put himself into the mix early and risk a humiliating defeat for himself to give himself the best chance of victory.

By this I mean that he has to get after the champ early, the chin situation wont go away, Stevenson can clearly be hurt I have no doubt about that and to test that theory you have to land early, he got into the groove against Cloud very quickly and just dissected him, Bellew cannot afford to think well I will see how the first few rounds go, they may be all that Tony gets and he has to take his chance to do damage. However by doing so he risks being stretched himself and that takes a special kind of fighter to risk facing the type of criticism, Dawson took after his quick time defeat.

Look what Groves achieved by being the aggressor on Saturday, if you have the tools to hurt someone you have to get those tools working early, Bellew can hurt Stevenson I have no doubt about that and just hope that he goes for it, he has a good jab to set up his power shots and there is just a chance that Stevenson may start believing his own press and perhaps not quite have his eye on the ball 100 per cent.

I know for many Tony is not everyone's cup of tea but I like the kid and I feel this is what he has always wanted and now its here he needs to seize it and bring that title home.

I agree with this but I just don't think Bellew has much at all. Adonis to blow him away in my view.

Completely agree about Stevenson, it seems they are building to what is classed as a 'super fight' but I can only see Kovalev winning it. Stevenson has one spectacular win.

I have a horrible feeling Bellew is going to be robbed on points

People are going to think he could have won, but the judges scorecards are wide the other way

I give Bellew every chance of pulling off the upset. He knows what he has to do, and can fight a disciplined fight. Unfortunately, Stevenson is very good offensively and may get to Tony with a massive punch but Tony punches very very hard too and I can honestly see an upset this weekend.

I used to dislike the way Tony came across when I first heard of him ( nearly scrapping with Cleverly in press conference ) but over time he's shown he's a decent guy and grown on me. I'd love him to do it on Saturday night.

I hope Bellew does well and see's out the 12 rounds, that would be an achievement and IMO the best he can hope for.

It's more likely he see's out the fight on his back. I just cannot see Tony winning this whatsoever.

Really hoping that Bellew can pull this one out of the bag. It's not going to be easy and i won't be putting a load of money on it, i just want him to win and think he is in with a chance.

The -10 weather out there can't be helping him much either. I know Liverpool is cold but it was never that cold when i lived there!!

I'd like Bellew to win. Honestly, I think Stevenson is riding high just now and will pull off a win and maybe a stoppage.

However, I can honestly say I'd love to be wrong. Tony's alright.

Been looking forward to this fight for a while. I think Tony has the tools to get the job done if he boxes smart, Keeps out of trouble by using good foot work and not getting involved in a macho slugfest. I'm going for Bellew on a split decision !!

Also looking forward to seeing Kovalev on the same bill
