Think it's all about building David Price up again, giving him confidence by regaining the winning thread...few steps back before they go forward with him..they say they intend on getting him out rather regularly

I appreciate that and maybe he does need a journeyman who he an blast out in round 1 to get his confidence back. But surely he would do better against a John McDermott type of opponent who has a decent record and can last a few rounds (Ok he blasted him out in round 1) but you get what I'm saying?
He needs to learn not be protected.

Does this mean that he's vacating the British title now?

Yeah i get what your saying and can see that..,1st time out, new promoter(s) fighting in Germany, as part of this 'world tour' they are doing with him this is just a tester fight for him to see how his confidence is after the Thompson losses...and then they will step it up from there quite considerably..they would have to

He looked a bit gaunt recently, maybe been working hard on the cardio - he needs to become ruthless and nasty if he is going to succeed

I do understand what you are saying, but does beating somebody who is clearly below your level actually increase your confidence ?
If Rooney was going through a bad patch then you wouldn't get him to play against a non league side to score 10 goals to improve his confidence ?
Sometimes boxing is a bit nuts and everybody considers the sport to be some kind of strange parallel universe that does not follow the same logic as every other sport.
Anyway, back on topic - Price doesn't like getting hit and he knows in his heart that the next time that somebody hits him on the chin he is going to go (yes, I know that Vladimir recovered from ko defeats, but Price is more psychologically fragile than a bloke who was taken away from his family at 8 years old to be trained and brainwashed that he was an unbeatable machine at some state run Government facility - despite what Bellew and his mates think, the mean streets of Liverpool are comparatively speaking not quite as mean).

Perfect start for David Price, he needs slow steps to rebound from two massive setbacks - and an absolutely inspired idea to relocate to Germany.
Though I would guess it's the very savvy Germans who have contacted him in the first place; they know what to do with a heavyweight over there.

Do you mean the same John McDermott that got blasted out in about a minute by Price, can't see his 'type' doing much good for him.

Price himself blamed his losses to the tiger on too many easy fights & not enough decent tests before stepping. Suppose with a fight like this he can say that its a soft option as he is rebuilding.

Weren't there rumours that he was going to fight Chisora? Or did I make that up?

as for price, all this does is get him a W
but he will need to step up, even chisoras rebuilding has been in a better direction.
a more reasonable fight would be like sosnowski, laren, pudar, airich etc. maybe one of these are next
but dont see y kalle had ot go to USA to find this chump

This guy has been the distance with Marius Wach, only been stopped 3 times; I think it's ideal. He's not a massive threat, but Price will get some rounds in, probably not blast him out early, ideal.

It's a fight that looks like a potential banana skin to me! Dont get me wrong, the guy he's fighting is rubbish but going on his boxrec stats, he's taller than Price is *He's never faced that as a pro to my knowledge and is used to dictating against guys a lot shorter than him bar Thompson* and he's also got 10 knock outs from 12 wins. I have a feeling it could be a fight that doesnt make Price look particularily great even in victory. They should of matched him with a super durable guy that he could totally dominate and it look nice and easy.

Might as well be fighting Aleksander Orlov!

After suffering two devastating defeats, he needs to get his feet wet again before taking on a higher level opponent. Perhaps two fights with journeyman caliber opponents, followed by a prospect, then maybe a fringe contender. If they put him in the ring with someone like Derek chisora right now, he may be permanantely ruined.

Dominick Guinn would be a good opponent for Price after he gets a couple of wins under his belt. He badly needs rounds.

I dont think he needs to fight two journeymen, a prospect, and then a fringe contender. Boxers get mollycoddled way to much when it comes to opponents at times. You're either good enough or you're not.

So that is 4 fights ?
Based on that a promoter will need to pay 8 purses and gamble that he comes through them ok and fight number 5 would have to be a biggie so he can make some money - it would only be financially be worthwhile if the final fight is against a Klitschko for good money, and that would be a bad fight for Price.

Perhaps not, but he doesn't have that many fights as it is. He's only been beyond four rounds once and got badly beaten in his last two outings. A lot of people didn't think Klitschko had what it took after losing to Ross Purity in his first scheduled 12 rounder, after never having been beyond 8. Sometimes a fighter needs to take a step back and be rebuilt.

Well its either worry about the short term purse or build the guy back up properly. Take your pick.
