George Groves - Somewhat foolish?

I would not go so far as to call either fighter an asshole or whatever but......

George is saying that he feels Froch will not grant him a rematch. He says the initial offer at the post fight interview was just to get the crowd on his side, that Froch won the lottery, is afraid and that he has the beating of Carl Froch.

Now I think it was a terrible decision by the ref to stop the fight. I also thought Carl was going to stop him anyway, I had been thinking that since around the 7th. I was very very impressed by Groves tenacity, power and skill, throughout the fight but I still think Carl was going to beat him. I feel bad for both of them and unlike a lot of people, I don't dislike either fighter. The referee was terrible throughout the fight.

I want to see a rematch, as soon as possible. In an ideal world a rematch would be signed and sealed, happening in 4 months or so. However George Groves is doing himself no favours by going on like he is. He knows Carl has a big ego when it comes to boxing, he knows Froch still has the title and the money and fame that goes with it. If he wants to smooth the way to that happening, he has to give Froch a bit more respect, IMO. I'm sure many will disagree :box:

I agree with most of what you say regarding the fight. Froch holds the cards it's that simple, if George pisses him off he could walk.

Looks like that bellend Groove Armada has used his three accounts to vote keep goading.

Its possible Froch could turn the goading against Groves and use it as an excuse to get out of the rematch (which would be pathetic on his part).

Groves best bet would be to tone it down until the contracts are signed, then ramp it up as fight night gets closer.

fcuk it i think george should get even worse and turn it into the biggest ever fight in the UK,

Froch is a warrior and wont like what he saw when he watches it back and will want to fight again

people that dont know nothing about boxing are even talking about it

There are a llot of people that watched the bout that have a lot of sympathy for Groves position; there are some who feel for Froch and feel the stoppage denied him a clear win. I don't think that Froch would box Ward again, it weren't a really thrilling bout 1st time and doubt it would be in a rematch. I think he'd fancy Golovkin as he's a career supermiddle and would have the natural size advantage, what does Chavez Jnr hold that Froch wants and is he an acceptable challenger for Froch' titles?

People have their opinions and George will probably get down to training after Christmas; he's got many more fans and he'll get a good bout sorted whether it's Froch or not. I have to say though that Froch and McCracken saying that unless Groves stops giving his opinion he'll not get the bout is plain wrong. McCracken would have Froch' back similar to Billy Nelson and Ricky Burns. Groves feels he was robbed and we live in a 'free' country - Groves can give his opinion if he wants. I can imagine Froch wants an easier bout next time out.

He should do whatever makes it more likely he gets a rematch. Can you goad Carl into getting a fight?

It's been done before but they need a strong promotional push. It'd not be before next Spring and a lot can happen in 5-6 months.

I may be in a minority of one here but I don't see how Froch has any duty to give Groves a rematch. He knocked the guy out fair and square, there is absolutely no chance Groves was surviving that. Frankly Groves should send Foster a thank you card!

Froch should go where the money is. That's probably Groves though.

And thats hit the nail on the head. He has nowhere else to go other than Groves in reality (unless he retires). He could fight Ward but would earn less money and take another schooling.

When was Groves out cold, or on the floor for that matter? Froch was in a far worse state in the 1st than Groves was at any stage of the fight, but because Groves is 'chinny' it's ok for him to be stopped and Froch is a 'warrior' so he wasn't hurt as bad as he looked.

The results are well in favour of Groves goading Froch. I think that's a futile tactic. Froch has gained a lot of haters after this fight, which is a shame because it was marvellous to watch him come back from that brutal knockdown.

Groves is looking more foolish but the day. Did he really turn down a seven figure offer? :witzend:

Groves is an egomaniac, I hate his smug arrogance & the way he acts as if froch has to go through him after he was stopped!
Groves don't hold the cards, froch has gave him another chance & he's snubbed it which shows he's a joke,he ain't getting the oppurtunity elsewhere or that money plus if he was to win he'd be looking fwd to some great pay days!!! What a plonker!! Rodney groves!

if that is true, and you seem pretty sure about it, then i think he has made a big mistake there both financially and for his career.

Years of goading never got Witter a fight with Hatton.

I'm passed the point of feeling sorry for Groves now, yes he was the victim of a bullshit stoppage, two months ago. Now he's coming across as a whinger.

Why would you not respect a man who took your best punches for 9 rounds?

What a complete madman. This has to be calculated to hype the fight surely. George didn't spend the last two months bad mouthing Froch to pull this shit, did he? :KO:

The IBF have ordered the fight but maybe Carl will vacate.
Yeah but,no but, froch has two titles & that would mean groves would have to face who ever for the vacant title which wouldn't gross a lot prob 5 figures maybe abit more now froch has made him famous.

Froch has said the curtain is coming down & there's boxes he wants to tick & if the brat is snubbing purses he will rightly move on! I want to see the return but groves is being a cock IMO.
What's groves trading on, goading Carl on ill face anyone trait & it seems Carl does seem it's his duty & could see on ringside he was repeating this.
Calzaghe never gave anyone a second chance even Reid who he won a hairline decision in a cracker & wonders why fans don't hold him in the same esteem as benn & Eubanks taking on a shot jones rather then a young contender & look st the praise he now recieves

Can you blame him? I wouldn't expect Carl to act any different either, but we know what's what. Carl is a legit champion, no question, just WBA nonsense.

It's fair to say wards in a league of his own & froch has more then earnt his stripes!

Groves has only faced degale who I rate .& felt won the fight, but he was rattled by smith a domestic level fighter & in all sorts of bother v another domestic level fighter in Anderson .
& look at the career & journey froch has had
