I agree with a fair bit of what DeGale had to say, but I still think people seem to forget that these are 12 round fights. Whatever you think of the stoppage, most people feel that Froch was starting to break Groves down. Those last 3 rounds, if the fight had gone on, would've been hell for Groves regardless of the outcome.... Now, considering Groves had the perfect style to land bombs on Froch all night and was executing that part of his game plan with ease, surely people should start to realise just how hard Froch is to beat. DeGale would outbox Froch for the first few rounds and by 5 or 6 his "knee" would start acting up and he'd be sat on the ropes eating shots. To really outbox Froch and make him look silly, you not only have to have the technical ability, but you have to have the boxing brain to be able to spoil a bit here and there, tie up and walk yourself off the ropes, or slow the pace when needed. Ward showed how to beat Froch the easy way, but no one, not even Groves, has actually been able to execute that strategy.

it's very hard to beat someone like Froch. Clearly quick feet, great fitness and a "pop" help, but not enough.
I think it was a good stoppage, Groves wasn't defending himself and thanks to Foster we're talking about a rematch (that won't happen imo) and not about a poorly George Groves - and believe me, I was for Groves, who I've been following since he got left behind for the Beijing Olympics.
I makes no difference if you called upon spirits of Willie Pep and Sugar Ray Leonard (the latter of which is very much alive) for 8 rounds if you're shipping punishment in the 9th.

If everyone watches back from the chopping right that made George wobble & hold before getting bulled to the ropes were he gallantly fired back & got caught clean in the process . He was looking to the floor probably not knowing where he was & prior to that Howard fosters angle saw him nailed flush but still IMO should of given him the benefit of the doubt

DeGale can take punishment. I think he's been quietly improving. He lacks a clean one punch KO shot but he hits hard enough.

I would recommend you send this to Paddy FitzPatrick & George Groves if they are serious about winning a rematch

If DeGale had the kind of power Groves has, or Kessler's, he'd knock Froch out. Stylistically he is all wrong for him, a fast, slick southpaw, capable of switch hitting, solid chin and can fight at a good pace for 12 rounds, although recently he has spent too long on the ropes. I don't think he has the power to hold Froch off though and gets trapped on the ropes and beaten down around the 8th while ahead on the cards.

I love the point about Degale's "knee" !
