I spent a fair bit of time with Herbie in the lead up to fights when he was with Hennessy a few years back.

He struck me then as the sort who could be very easily lead, but, I found Herbie highly entertaining.

However with all that said, Herbie knows what is right and wrong and I find it very sad for boxing that a person who fought for the Heavyweight title has brought the sport into disrepute to say the very least.

What I find even more upsetting and annoying is those around Herbie, should have had the balls to keep him away from wrong.

A bad day for boxing.

Herbie looked like a Cruiserweight contender back in 2008-2010 he won the WBC International knocking everyone out but then just fell away, shame not to have seen him in a Cruiserweight world title fight around that time, he was always a live wire so today's news isn't much of a surprise

In all fairness he's not a little kid. He's to blame for his own actions like we all are.

The best one to one ever that afternoon for me talking to Mike and getting his take on Herol.
Remember walking through the city centre a few yards behind with Crocodile shouting "where's McCafferty ?" to anybody who'd listen.

I remember going for a walk with them all the night before that ... that crocodile was a f*cking lunatic, he was planning alsorts for that weigh in ... luckily the board stepped and told them all to behave.

Mike McCallum was quite chilled he was there for the money never quite understood what his role was. Eddie Mustapha Muhammed was a bloody brilliant bloke remember spending many an hour arguing/debating boxing with him.

They were the days ... bloody hell I am a f*cking lucky bloke, could tell some yarns.

I used to like watching Hide fight, the bloke could certainly whack. I think Riddick Bowe still says Hide hit him harder than anyone. Its a shame his career went the way it did, not sure if he lost interest or just went off the rails. Still a decent record though, 4 defeats and one of those was on a cut to Kulikauskas. To lose to Bowe and a Klitschko and revenge the other defeat to Chingangu isn't bad going.

Very lenient sentence.

While it is sad and disappointing, I'm not sure how it can be said that he has brought the sport of boxing into disrepute. He's effectively retired having not fought in a couple of years and was caught up in a sting that had nothing to do with his in ring activity (other than granting him status as a celebrity and therefore worth targeting). You don't read stories of, for example, a roofer getting banged up for dealing bringing shame on the whole building industry.

He was WBO champ. Fought Vitali and Bowe.
He was only ever a cruiser weight. Had has lost a lot of muscle tone.

Very, very unlikely. Hero worshipped more likely. He will have as many lackeys as he can handle. Certainly won't go thirsty when he wants a cup of tea

Naz was idol worshipped inside.
I've taken pros into local prisons and the respect shown to pros has always been great.
He'll sort himself a gym orderly job which will give him plenty of access for training.
He'll do 11 months I guess can't see him getting a tag.
He might even end up at open prison for part of it as well.

I remember that weigh in and lead up to it very well crocodile was full of crap

How sad that a man who came from nothing, became a millionaire, yet ends up a criminal in prison.

It makes you wonder just how much money people want.

It seems, the more money they make, they more they want.

Most people would have been happy with the comfortable lifestyle Hide led, but not him. :x

Big difference visiting a jail and being in there when there is already an established pecking order.

I have many friends that have been in and out if jail and that's REAL prison life.

I doubt Hide will be in Ford open Prison.
