He's got some pop hasn't he? He seems rugged and tough as well, he'll take some beating.

I'm still not totally sold on him. He can seriously whack for sure but in terms of "boxing" I need more convincing.

He looks extremely dangerous. But a pure puncher usually gets beaten by a top boxer

The fellow he was boxing looked half decent as well and then BANG; it must be awful to box someone like that.

Sillakh was the future of the LHW division till he got Ko'd last year. Very smooth boxer but fights with his chin up and doesn't seem to carry a shot all that well.

Kovalev does look seriously heavy handed, his flurries landing on gloves seemed to he hurting Cleverly. He looks super relaxed when he gets into a groove too.

I didn't know that  Kovalev really detonates when he's in range and the shot that started it didn't land flush. The ref did the right thing in letting them box on but Kovalev looks an instinctive finisher; I thought the poor man was going to crawl (or roll) out of the ring.

I dont think Kovalev showed a lot of class when he was shouting at him when he was lying poleaxed on the ground though.

What was that about? Was there needle before the bout or was it because they were both from 'Russian' states?

I think they were scheduled to meet awhile back when they were both still unbeaten but it didnt happen for whatever reason. Sillakh probably didnt fancy it. Anyway, im not sure if some animosity built up from that.

Kovalev can box too. He is a deceptively intelligent fighter. Finds angles out of nowhere, great balance and footwork, first-rate punch artillery, always in a position to punch. Kind of like Golovkin.

I want to see Ward get stopped by this guy so so badly. That fight should be every boxing fan's wet dream. Holy shit.

Perhaps he just wanted to satisfy the blood thirsty Boxing Fans. We have a load on here.

It was interesting that the ref let him go on. The opponent was OK to continue, but you knew it was going to end badly.

The ref didn't take into account the fact that Kovalev is a banger, and so he shouldn't

I was impressed with Kovalev's boxing at Cleverley. He would find it tough against Ward imo, but he's more than just pure power.

Has tremendous power that's for sure. One clean punch by Kovalev, and you are likely to be flattened. Going to take a technical boxer to beat him, someone like Ward. Think he destroys anyone at 168-175 not named Ward.

After all the crap a UK ref had recently you may see some fights carry on that shouldn't. I truly hope not but that's just my opinion.

Don't want to see fights go on too long, screw that, but it would have been wrong for him to stop it because Kovalev was in the other corner. A fighter is either fit io continue or he isn't

The ref was spot on last night.. 90% the boy was going to get knocked out but has been bigger turn arounds before.. Good to let him continue bad good stoppage. Maybe Foster should watch. As for how good he is.. He is awesome.. Cleverley has a granite chin and couldn't believe his power he is in my opinion the p4p biggest hitter in boxing.. Question is can you stay away from him for 12 rounds. 1 punch ends fights. I would fancy him against anyone even the cruiserweights. I think he most eat cement

That mans power scares me :-?

I know a better boxer beats a better puncher but jesus imagine when he starts landing proper flush

Kovalev reminds of a Heavyweight puncher the way is cuffing shots have an affect

The man might be one the worst world champions technically to lace on gloves but with his power its hard to see how even Hopkins could absorve that power,...........

.............yes i am pished :D

Only the second time Ive seen Kovalev. His boxing skills looked good against Cleverly, very accurate and efficient.

I agree, his ability as a boxer were somewhat disminished by the commentators last night as he lost the first round but regardless of his obvious power he was very accurate against Nathan Cleverly
