Scott Harrison refused his licence again!!! :(

At tonight's AGM the bbbofc refused Scott Harrison his licence back again, I never really seemed to get the reason why just it was a vote and they said to Peter Harrison (Dad) that the board voted Scott not to be licenced... Then Paul Weir asked what is the actual reason for Scott not to get his licence back they said similar but added in "the bbbofc dont need the bad press" lol... All I have to comment on this is Scott will appeal this and the bbbofc will waste more money in court fees and Scott will get his licence back!

P.S innocent till proven guilty & dont believe everything u read in the papers!!!

They should sort out the dodgy referees and judges then.

What grounds do they have for this? He's not getting hurt, hasn't been in trouble for the longest period of time in a few years now and seems to be pretty settled, so why stop him fighting? He's probably in more danger outside the ring than in it because boxing keeps him off the drink and on the straight and narrow.

Board are a disgrace. Simples it's ok when the fighters are bringing glory to the up but when they no longer offer anything they are shat on. He has done nothing to warrant having his licence removed. They are penpushers who in truth abuse the boxers rights. Paddy Fitzpatrick said they are there to work for the boxers to satisfy there needs se as a referee a trainer . Boxing is made from the warriors steppig inside the ring and spoiled by the idiots outside it:)

I'm actually a fan of what the BBofBC try and do but lately some of the decisions and comments and dumb founding. Scott is just trying to make a living. For us Scots he is one of our greatest ever boxers and the atmosphere he creates at fights is unreal. I can't understand the reasons after all look at what happened between Chisora and Haye both were licensed again. Then you look at Bellew over in Canada. Calling the guy a midget then trying to headbutt him.

Seems to me that in boxing money talks and bullshit walks. Everyone always covering their own arses and doing whatever suits.

What's happened to his last conviction in Spain? I thought he had lost his appeal and was told he had to serve his sentence

They have given Harrison plenty of opportunities to have another go and he fucks it up every time.

If they have said they don't want the bad publicity then fair play to them. He's a ticking time bomb to bad publicity.
If he really wants to box then why doesn't he try his luck abroad.

Just not in Spain though

According to the BBBofC they were awaiting g some form of info and it wasn't forthcoming isn't that the only reason?

A boxing licence should be a privilege, not a right. Scott has been given many chances and has blown them every time.

Boxers train to punch people as part of a sport, which already gets a bad press due to associations with violence. It is these negative associations that have not helped when trying to get organisations like the BBC to show the sport again. When a boxer takes his training for the sport and uses it to assault people then they should be stripped of their licence. Scott hasn't just had one isolated misdemeanour, he has repeatedly brought the sport into disrepute and should never be given a licence to fight again.

Could he not pursue another career? Doormen earn well.

Scott has very little left anyway to offer a sport which he removed himself from following poor decisions he made outside of the ring.

People on here are judgmental as they come. Nobody is perfect in life and very one has stuff to deal woth. Scott is openly Harrased by papers in his garden following him. Guy is a nice man who hassde a few mistakes and a very good boxer. Why should've be stopped? There was no reason given by the board as far as I was told. People in glass houses should not throw stones is always what I was told. Walk a mile in their shoes. Unless people know facts and him on a personnel level then how do you know?

Maybe the board do know more than people on here are saying, that is why he is not being licensed again ?

i wonder since harrison has come out of jail, how much time they board have spent on harrison ?

Everything is so cloak and dagger with the BBofBC maybe if things were more transparent these issues wouldn't happen. When mistakes happen it gets brushed under the carpet. I like what Paddy Fitzpatrick said the board should be here to serve the boxers. That is certainly not the case. They will regret it if a rival board do come through and most boxers move over

I just wish the board had consistency. If they are gonna ban people for certain things, then just have a rule in place and stick to it.

I do wish David Cameron was a massive boxing fan and then we might see some positive changes.

One thing......

British boxers should be the people that decide who runs the sport.

Perhaps Scott should ask for his scorecard from the Board for the Eric Odumase fight which he is entitled to do.

Great reply. If the scorecard can be obtained, I might be able to fill the b_an_s.

How is it cloak and dagger? I am sure various personal matters were discussed, would you be happy if the Board just made all confidential matters public?
As for the old "rival board" chestnut. Sky, nor any self-respecting broadcaster, would ever work with a rival board. So there would never be enough money in it to give it any future beyond small halls.
If things like a boxers' union have never got off the ground, could you really imagine all the big name British boxers turning their back on the Board out of support for a handful of boxers who have problems with them.
The point with Scott (who I have found to be a nice guy every time I met him) is surely, hasn't he been given a prison sentence in Spain that he has yet to serve. I asked that point earlier, but no one has answered.

British boxing is governed by the BBofBC yet they don't have rankings??? Is it a secret? I think there is more than a handful of boxers that are bemused to the way the board run things. As someone has said there is no consistency. If referees/ judges make mistakes they should be held accountable. Does this really happen the amount it's meant too?? End of the day the board favour whoever is ploughing them with the most money. While that's happening there will be problems with British boxing. Vote yes 2014 get a Scottish Board of Boxing Control ha
