Both Calzaghe and Hearn will be inducted into the hall of fame on the 8th of June 2014.

Calzaghe goes in under the modern category along with Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad. Hearn goes in under the non-participation category along with referees Eugene Corri and and Richard Steele.

No. When Andre Ward retires eventually then I can see him getting in the HOF but the HOF should be reserved for greats of the sport. Carl has been good and taken on all comers but I think a 1 and 1 record with Kessler and a clear loss to Ward mean he has never ever been number 1 at his weight.

I can't say I would. Froch is an exciting fighter, and has had a few great fights at world level, however he's a 1 weight world champion who is the second best in his division. His fight against Ward was very one sided.

Froch isn't an obvious first ballot fighter, but he may well get in there at some point.

Three fighters get inducted annually. This years batch was particularly strong and all three were first balloters.

Be interesting to see who gets in next time there's a quiet year. Naz is still on the list and will probably get in at some point. Gatti got in first time, and McGuigan is there too. Haye has no chance as the Yanks don't like him, while Hatton will probably get in.

Froch is a very very good fighter, but shouldn't be near the HOF. I'm not really sure Calzaghe deserves it.

i agree with what you say about Froch..... its an argument that will forever rage about Jo but i honestly think Jo deserves his place because he fought everyone that he put in front of him .. i believe he didnt duck anyone .... as behop you could say in his prime he did but only for a bigger purse...

The elephant in the Hall is McGuigan. Use him as the yardstick and Robin Reid should be in there.

I've been following the sport since the 50s and have never heard of George Chaney- another of this year's inductees. It seems a bit of a joke adding pioneers and old-timers every year as ,obviously, the pool to choose from can only get smaller.

Those people who criticise McGuigan probably never ever went to one of his fights. If they did they would probably have a different opinion.

McGuigan and Gatti are inducted not only for their records, they transcended the sport and deserve to be there.

I've no problem at all in these great guys from bygone eras getting recognition all be it posthumously.

The point I was trying to make is that they are no more deserving now than they were when the HOF first started. There needs to be a finite cut-off point,e.g. within 50 years of their last bout. If too many are inducted the honour becomes diluted.

Surely Frank Bruno should have strolled in then? Easily as popular as either. Probably as good too.

McGuigan and Gatti don't deserve to be in there. Besting Ward in a trilogy shouldn't gain you entry and neither should your dad singing Danny Boy after a fight

For what it's worth I think there should be a British-only HoF organised by a body like the BBBC. In the same way that the British belt still has significance even if the fighter isn't good enough to make it on the world stage, the British-only HoF could play a similar role.
I personally think it would be great to recognise those who would never be eligible for the global HoF but who still played a really significant role in the context of boxing on these shores.

I'm glad to see Joe Calzaghe get in. Brilliant career and its good that he's finally getting the recognition that he deserves after so many years of criticism.

I'm always confused as to the criteria. If it's hall of fame (which you'd be led to believe with some of the people in it), Naz should've been in ages ago. If it's hall of accomplishments, some people shouldn't be in there.

All depends on your criteria which is often cloudy with the HOF.
Do you need to be undisputed Champ?
Or top ten p4p?
Popular or a ticket seller?
A moral bastion?
Transcended the sport?

I'm not sure Froch is any of these, but he is p4p a better fighter than McGuigan or Gatti

I'm not sure if Barry Hearn deserves a spot.

He doesn't. His time at the top was brief and a bit crap, really. To be fair to Barry, he had allsorts going on in other sports at the time. He has had some good nights, obviously, but lets not forget the shocking nights with Eubank and the terrible leisure centre shows we had for years before Eddie took the reigns.

I think it took the win over BHop to convince the boys at the BHOF to include Joe.

I'd still like to see Lupe Pintor voted in, he deserves to be for his ring battles, and the life he's led.
