Worst defence by a world champion?

Has to be Buster Douglas' against Evander Holyfield, but Darren Barker sure gave him a run for his money tonight. He made a Sturn so exposed by Martin Murray look like Julian Jackson. After all Darren's been through, physically and emotionally, to watch him fold like that tonight was hard to watch. It was almost as if Sturm was deliberately targeting Darren's temple as a weak spot. Feel so sorry for Darren.

If there's anyone who deserves with any credit tonight (apart from Sturm obviously), it should be Martin Murray.

Rich LaMontagne.

Had no business being near Enzo Macarinelli's WBU world title.

There have been plenty as bad or worse. Dawson against Stevenson is another recent example.

My thought too, funny as he won it in exactly the same way.

I don't see no point in a rematch.

Yeah, that was one of the weirdest boxing coincidences along with Golota getting DQ'd twice against Bowe

But warranted. Barker was embarrassing and no doubt he'll be embarrassed too. For a champion to collapse like a pack of cards in that manner was bewildering. It undermines everything he achieved previously for me.

He just got the shit beaten out of him and probably dislocated his hip. Barker threw loads of punches back and tried his heart out. That is not collapsing like a pack of cards. Have you ever been in a boxing ring? Your comments are a disgrace.

Murray didn't expose Sturm, Murray performed better against Martinez, it actually makes Sturm's performance look better (imo)

Based on his performance? Or based on your over sentiment? I like Barker, but you've got to put your beliefs to one side and comment on what you see, not what you feel.

I'm not biased. He fought his heart out. Throwing punches with serious hip damage. Yes he got caught and his defence was poor, but to say he folded like a pack of cards is just nonsense.

Have you eve been in a ring Ben?

One of the worst defences of the year. All well and good talking about the hip but he fought like an idiot in round 1 as well

That's a fair comment; it may be hard to do but if Barker wasn't fit to box he shouldn't have got in the ring; Sturm beat him in any case but he gestured to his corner about the hip when dropped. If he were wrecked going in he's done it for the money; he's had an issue with his hips for years and Sturm was far too much for him - to think people were worried about the judges.

Never ever, Keith. But presumably IF I agreed with you it wouldn't matter, would it? Doesn't that make your points even more ridiculous? Barker mugged the public, bagged a huge payday, and got drilled in two rounds because he was injured. And you, and him, want people's charity? Are you genuinely for real?

Ever been to see an optician, Keith?

You described as 'embarrassing' a guy who has come back from several career threatening injuries to become world champion. A guy whose hip has gone and who according to his trainer will likely never fight again. The only one who has embarrassed themselves is you.
