EDIT: Actually on second thoughts from re-watching Jeffries I reckon I could beat him, Ali probably earlier than I first thought.

Didn't Jefferies die in '53..when Ali was 11?

What makes this interesting is not knowing how Ali would fare over more than 15 rounds. Over 15,he wins with ease, and a younger Ali would certainly stop him. How would Ali do in the last ten? Probably fine. He was a superbly conditioned athlete, and an expert at adapting his game to the challenge, but it's still a question mark.

I'm not at sea without a rudder however I cannot say definitively. My records have always showed at 6ft 1 1/2. You may be correct. Cannot see the similarity with Bonavena i'm afraid tho...

Chuvalo maybe also....will have to review my footage of Jefferies. It's such a different age isn't it. I do not go by the theory that old timers had no chance against todays. It was just a very different style and sport then. . .It was like 30 minutes of fighting spread over 25 rounds..

It would be a slower pace for Ali. He’d have a good lead going into those final ten rounds. Jeffries would the close the gap but probably wouldn’t get in close enough to win it.

A lot will come down to how Jeffries fares with being hit so often by a bigger man than he’s used to fighting. If Jeffries is still made of granite and he can apply effective pressure he has a chance.

Ali toys with Jeffries, talks sh*t, slaps him around, and stops him sometime after 8 rounds.

Easy night's work.

Would Jeffries wear Ali down? I don't think so... But it would be a good fight to watch.

Except that's not Jeffries (or Fitzsimmons for that matter). That's a reenactment. They tried to film the fight, but the films didn't turn out . . .

It really is. I think that's why so many people object to his presence here. BOTP was usually the one section of the forum that had integrity and intelligent Boxing Discussion for the most part.
