Looks like his career may be finished. Lost a six round decision to the American Joshua Clottey beat in his come back fight a few months back. Shame really, always thought he was a decent middleweight. He was beating Andy Lee until he gassed out and got stopped, but looks like that was his peak. Anyone follow him much or see the fight last week?

he announced his Retirement on Facebook but alot of people were trying to convince him otherwise

i think well see him back again in 2014 , he needs to fight regular though and be 100% ,

Should of stayed in the USA and Canada earning good money with the over rated name he quite admiralably whittled out of shit for himself. IMO.

I really like Craig, but if he is to carry on he needs to get a coach that will push him hard to get that core fitness he has lacked in a lot of his fights but the coach can only do so much the rest has to come from Craig himself!!

Eddie Hearn offered him the fight against Rocky Fielding, but it was too short a notice for a potential 12 round fight, if fitness was a problem last week in a 6 round points loss, then i think Craig did the right thing in turning down Fielding, as he would probably of been looking at a stoppage defeat there.

I still beleive Craig has a British title in him at least, the laddie has skills in abundance and hopefully he can regroup and give it one last go .

I don't think the 'Prizefighter' outing did Craig's confidence any good. I thought he was on the verge of bigger fighters, certainly bigger than being in a 3x3 tournament. I thought he would win it and I'm sure he did, obviously he got cut in the first fight and the rest is history but I wouldn't rule McEwan out just yet.

He's only 31 and has only lost 4. He's had good experience gaining fights against Quillin, Andy Lee and Vera across the world stage. He's also very well traveled.

I'm not saying he'd beat Macklin or Murray, seems strange to be discounting Barker but he looks retired, but a prepared and believing McEwan, would certainly stand a chance.

I'd also say he should stay at middleweight where he is when he is focused and in training, and not be moving up to super middleweight to be fighting Fielding and Callum Smith etc. just for the pay days when he isn't truly fit.

Just to add, in Prizefighter, McEwan went down to 153¾ for the light middleweight tournament - he was back fighting at 164½ only a month after.

I'd think joining a decent promoter over here and getting a couple of wins on a few undercards, could see him back in the mix.

I did find it a bit odd why no promoters went looking for him when he came back to these shores. Maybe he isn't a ticket seller

Thing is in Edinburgh he certainly is. I hope he gets himself a good coach and works very hard and gives himself one big push if not retire and pass his knowledge onto the kids at his dads gym

I'm afraid not, Craig was with me,he'd tell you himself was improving,getting real fit and most importantly enjoying his boxing again when he decided to take the fight with kid chocolate, which IMO at the time simply wasn't the fight to take.

So because he took a fight that led to defeat you wouldn't work with him again, no matter what? There must be a bit more to it than that....

How does BN get paid for training him if he isn't working the corner of CM as he dosent approve of the fight ?

I never got paid by Craig for the time I trained him in my gym he ended going to Mexico with another coach and a family member
