After looking at several posts on here i have a few worries concerning Ricky,as a Scot we love to see our sportsmen doing great, but i feel after Rickys last 2 performances in which he boxed below par he should change something in his camp,Ricky boxes well as the underdog most notibly Martinez and katsidis we want him back to his best for crawford,IMO a change in Trainers could do him favours,Paul weir & Colin belshaw are local?just an opinion

Lets be honest here, if Burns was gonna change trainer at this stage in his career he would be crazy to go with any of the other Scottish trainers about. If he wanted a change of camp then he should be going with Gallagher where he could get good top drawer regular sparring and Gallaghers fighters are renowned for being well condition. (As is Burns, so it wouldn't be too drastic of a change)

I can't see him changing coaches at this stage in his career/life, none of the other Scottish coaches can offer anything that Billy can't IMO and he is unlikely to fancy the idea of re-locating with such a young family.

If there are problems with training etc then Burns is experienced enough himself to realise whats missing or going wrong. If it was earlier in his career then a change of trainer could be beneficial but for me….. not at this stage.

Gallaghers Gyms would be a good option in terms of Sparring etc, hopefully his jaw is ready soon enough but as the champion you can only wonder why he cant get top names over for sparring to suit Crawfords style, perhaps top Americans, south Americans and so on,beltran was training with manny pac pre to that fight, and nobody mentioned burns partners, maybe BN can tell us???

What you on about straw out his pocket ? All I said is that the topic would heat up because billy posts on here. If you have read ma posts am not Billy's no1 fan but people are picking up the negatives because if Ricky's last 2 performances. At the end if the day no1 is forcing ricky to keep billy as trainer. Gallacher is a good trainer and gym is buzzing. Will be interesting to see his guys in against world level fighters.

To be fair , it was Ricky who was lunging and sloppy in the fights. He was just all over the place - against people who were good enough to capitalise and punish him for it.

Billy's corner work for Katsidis and especially in the Beltran fight was first rate.

"Don't f*cking smile again. I mean it, this is your career !" took the words out of my mouth in the Beltran fight. Billy knew Ricky had to tighten things up and gather himself and rightly read him the riot act.

Daniel you are going on about 2 poor performances.. Let's be real for a second Gonzales looked like a different level. Ricky didn't under perform in my opinion he over achieved to beat a guy who seemed better in every department.. As for Beltran Ricky had his Jaw broke and the fight was very close. I scored it 1 round to Ricky as I took a point off Beltran.. My 2 brothers had Beltran by 1 and 2 rounds.. So was a very close fight. Billy knows Ricky inside out and let's be honest here and Billy might not like this but Ricky has over achieved in boxing so far. I don't think anyone expected him to do what he has done and that is due to the team he is with. It actually annoys me people coming on and saying leave your trainer. If something is broke fix it I agree but how can this be broke.

As for the Crawford fight. I have watched him a few times and he reminds me a bit of Kevin Mitchell. Very talented and a good boxer. I think Ricky May well have his number. Also Ricky get great sparring so no need to train with Gallagher ha

Agree with you on Crawford, like Mitchell, does have a longer reach though. One of the Americans was claiming he has more boxing athletic ability in his left nut than Mitchell, Martinez and Katsidis have in their entire body, which is bollocks. Crawford has all the questions to answer, what's his chin like? Can he do 12 rounds at a fast pace? Is he world class? He likes to throw a right, then a left uppercut to the body, but because technique wise they're not great punches, they lack power and he hangs his chin in the air when he throws them, leaving himself wide open to the left hook or a straight right.

I think Burns will rise to the occasion after struggling against two unknown but dangerous fighters getting a big name over to Glasgow should motivate him.

Leaving allegedly was a mistake in my opinion. The last two fights have been a struggle but he has a strong will and heart. Needs an easy fight before the Crawford one I think.
