I'm splitting hairs a bit here.... but I don't think Haye lost every minute of every round. I think I gave Haye a couple of rounds at the time - and I don't think I was being charitable. Don't get me wrong, it was a definitive and clear Wlad victory, but I think Haye was always a threat, even in the last round.

Thanks for posting a thread about the Haye vs Klit fight so promptly.

I'l be honest, I havent always been Adam's biggest fan but Spud has worked with him and got to know him a lot better than any of us have so I imagine he's got to see a side of Adam away from the camera's.

What a relief to have this topic today by pure coincidence I was just thinking; I'm going to log on to the boxrec site and see what peoples opinions on the Wlad v Haye fight are now the dust has settled....

When someone responds to a point someone makes with outright aggression, solely, rather than debating any points or taking issue with them, it suggests a raw nerve has been hit.

I am not trying to wind anyone up with this, as someone else pointed out above quite amusingly, it is not exactly a hot topic

I just wanted to point out that at that moment in time when it should have all been about protecting his charge going forwards, Booth switched colours and came out with a comment purely borne from self interest and self serving.

He publicly 'washed his hands' of any responsibility for defeat.

And for me, and maybe me only, that told me EVERYTHING I need to know about the man

I see your point, but I recall Booth saying something along the lines of: 'I knew something was wrong when David wasn't able to do the things I was telling him to do during the round - and it's the first time that's happened'

Yeah, I think Booth realised that they were up against it going against a good, much bigger fighter - but I think they thought that they'd have a bigger advantage in speed than they eventually did have.

If Wlad was a quarter of a second slower stepping back from Haye's lunging overhand rights, then he would have been KOd. There's no way Booth could have been sure beforehand Wlad could avoid those big shots all night - and he was clearly gambling on Haye connecting.

Personally I think Booth handled the defeat fairly 'excuse-free' (Haye obviously didn't) . And I can't blame him for not announcing before the fight that he reckoned his fighter had a 20% chance of winning.

I get the feeling that Booth genuinely think Haye could win that fight but he also knew it wasnt a walk in the park. Wlad is a quality operator, whether you enjoy watching him or not. His size is definietly is a big part of his success but he's also very good with it.

It's not hard to get spud putting out angry posts is it.

I don't understand how or why spud speaks out on people he's spent time with,maybe they was unsavoury or disregarding towards him & his role??
Booth was hugging groves like a sailor on home leave after the fight which shows there is still some love.

I never thought groves would of left booth who has taught him everything including entrepreneural skills kept him a free agent & had he won on the 23rd it was jackpot!! & to leave booth out the equation was low IMO . I felt groves also may of felt thrown to the lions & cashed in on v froch, but that has since been squashed since the show of self belief from him

I have nothing but positive things to say about Adam Booth - yep I formerly thought he was an arrogant f*cker, perhaps he was, but I think he has done incredibly well on his journey with David Haye. Seriously name me one other "british" partnership which has achieved what they have in the sport ... I await people to state "who has Haye fought" - then if you wish to look at that angle it is even more incredible the amount of money which has been made!! and please lets not forget he also trained George Groves from the beginning up until the Froch fight and did all his negoitiations until then. Both fighters could live extremely comfortable now.

But, what is really important I now understand what an incredibly important influence Adam Booth had with David. During the 10 weeks I had in London, Adam was away from the gym for a couple of days due to having a cold or something like that, the mood in the gym was flat, in my opinion the moment Mr Booth walked back into the gym everyone perked up, went about their work and David looked 100% better with Adam instructing him.

I just finally cancelled my hotel rooms last night for the Haye vs Fury fight (had retained them in the hope Fury would fight Wilder on the same night), so woke up a bit frustrated.

As I feel something highly sceptical occurred there.

Twice.

And Booth was the orchestrator.

In my opinion.

What a wonderful insightful post, I am overwhelmed with your contribution to this thread.

Adam Booth polarizes opinion, but he has been a very good coach and trainer to both Haye & Groves - both mentally and technically.

He's also handled their interests and affairs outside the ring well. The good and the not so good.

Perhaps he indulges a bit too heavily in the kidology with press/media/opposition in comparison to say, McCracken or Tony Sims - but love him or hate him for it, it's never dull.

Turkish Cypriots are a cunning bunch. Good businessmen though.

Good insightful post. I think you can tell Adam Booth is a leader from most of his interviews. Of course he plays the game like he has to at times. Its called intelligence
