i dont know what goes in kick boixng, but last night you had a small looking japanese fella actually fighting a massive blob of what surely must have been more than TWENTY frickin stone!!

interestingly, the behemoth was actually so big he just couldnt punch at all. the little guy, an average skilled fighter atbest, just darted in and out and did a paint job and won a decision.

at the end of it all when the little geezer had his hand held up theirwas a massive roar from my entire union!

anyone else see this freak show?

The big guy was a competitive sumo wrestler, and the little guy a biggish star on the K1 circuit. I cannot believe the big guy wasn't disqualified for hitting him TWICE on the floor!.

If that happened in pro boxing, you wouldn't just be thrown out of the fight; you would have your purse withheld and you would be brought in front of the Board, and would probably have your license revoked.

So, freak show = yes!!

however, it makes good entertainment; especially for the Japanese, who are used to observing and participating in unusual entertainment.

i think i saw that a couple of weeks ago, if its the same fight.
does the big fella get dq`d but the little fella(relativley speaking) wants to carry on anyway to give the fans their moneys worth.
that sumo must be the biggest human being i`ve ever seen. he must have weighed over forty stone.

Just saw "Svenni" in his last fight against Jimmy Krankie or whatever his name is. For once Ottke one clean and arguably won every round with a great exhibition of Boxing and defence, if only he had done it more often then his career could have been less controversial. I still saw glimpses of why i disliked him though, moaning to the ref about none existant kidney shots and rabbit punches the cheating twat. But on the whole his opponent was flat footed and one dimensional and Ottke had little problems dealing with him but did it well. Steve Holdsworth seemed to get caught up in the emotion of the whole event and made a startling comment mid fight: "Look at Ottke go now, he really is a fighter who likes to come forward and press the fight and leave no doubt for the judges" :o :o :o :o

i don't know what fight you were watching steve, but ottke looked the same old horrible no skills no talent self. it is also my opinion that steve holdworth is a twat who really knows little about boxing.

Akebono V Mushashi....

Akebona was about 32stone..... terribly slow footwork as one would expect but surprisingly quick hands...... I guess quick hands are especially important in Sumo.

Ignashov was impressive knocking out Carter Williams
