Having heard Team Murray and Sky claim to have a world title oppurtunity for Martin lined up in the new year,i assumed it may be Golovkin or maybe even a rematch with Sturm.....now im hearing that GGG is being elevated to "Super" champ and Murray will be fighting for the "Regular" belt

So its not a real title shot then is it really?

Same as Quigg,Braehmer,Froch(although TBF Carl does hold the IBF) and the rest of them

Sorry to be going over old ground with the WBA but its just that i was excited for Martin and now id rather him fight for the European than that replica

On a sidenote,just watched Maidana bash up Broner,still buzzin

Yeah it's a mickey mouse belt.

Who is he likely to face for this "world title" shot.

WBA rankings read something like:

Golovkin
Murray
Geale
Jarrod Fletcher
Patrick neilsen
Max Bursak
Dmitri chudinov

You would expect it to be a lower down the rankings kind of fighter
Then again, you'd have expected murray, being ranked 1, to have fought golovkin.

If Murray fights Geale for the title, then at least he's fighting a world level opponent and the title will have some level of credibility.

If he wins he's going to make the first defence of this title against Macklin, right?

Not if thats the level of opponent he beats to win it

Surely if Saunders can blow Fletcher away in a couple,Murray will do something very similar

I don't get how/why the media get sucked in so easily???? I was watching BBC Sports Personality earlier and heard Scott Quigg being described as 'one of Britain's world champions'. The papers are the same. I really don't get it.

Another case in point - the Ward/Froch situation with the WBA. The BBC website report on Andre Ward defending his WBA super middleweight title. A week later, Froch beats Groves to defend the WBA super middleweight title! And we wonder why the sport doesn't gain casual interest!!!! The general sports fan must read these articles and be utterly confused.

I know that it is easy to criticise .....

But FW did a textbook job in promoting Hatton - who later slagged him off and left him.

When he went into promoting, Hatton said that he would be on the side of the boxer etc. but he hasn't delivered much in the last few years has he ?

I get the feeling that if he had his way, there would be a lot more coverage of boxing on the BBC. Most of it at the moment comes from BBC Scotland and Wales covering Burns and Cleverly, plus a few quotes from a Paddy Barnes interview with RTE.
