Basically announces he's turning pro, providing he gets a good offer.

Where do people think he'll go? Good mates with Frampton so it could be McGuigan, Greenblood are signing Irish fighters in the US, including John Joe Nevin and I'm sure Fastcar and Warren will be sniffing around too.

I like Nevin a lot as a fighter. I think he got a bit unlucky with decisions against Campbell in the amateurs and I'd fancy him to beat and possibly knock Campbell out in the pro's if they ever fought again.

I like Nevin a lot as a fighter. I think he got a bit unlucky with decisions against Campbell in the amateurs and I'd fancy him to beat and possibly knock Campbell out in the pro's if they ever fought again.

He's starting off at featherweight so I can't really see that one coming off unfortunately. Think he's making his debut out in the US sometime next month, then it wouldn't surprise me to see him on the Ormond undercard in Dublin if that one comes off.

Different weights, but I think it will be Nevin. Campbell's still stuck in the straight backed amateur style that David Price has and despite a few stoppages, never looked like he troubled Connelly power wise.

Well he's getting stoppages against people who arent in his league that's why. It's like Frankie Gavin, I really like him as a fighter but there's no way he has the punching power his record indicates.

One of Frankies mates made a post on another thread saying that Golovkins knockout ratio was only 17% more than Frankies 8) (the rest of his post was sound enough though)

I do think that Barnes really wants to go pro and Jason Quigley has been hinting it too as has Michael Conlan and Joe Ward. While i think that they all want to go pro at some stage,this is usually a tactic also used to try to maintain there level of funding or increase it from the National Sports council. I do think its definetly time for Barnes to go pro at this stage and he shouldnt be finding it hard to get a good offer as i think he would make a good pro and is very marketable

its not a coincidence that the grants for the next year are soon to be determined!
