Tomorrow night the 19th terry carruthers defends his midlands title against jason welborn in a fight that has been made an eliminator by the board for the british title. This fight has the making of a small hall cracker. Gutted I can't make it its a great fight brum v blackcountry bragging rights and the winner is right in the mix for the british title held by liam smith.
Thoughts......

I like to watch Carruthers, all action style, but i cant see him being capable of a british title, would be a HUGE upset.
I do think he will win this particular fight though, and as OP said it could be a Small Hall cracker .

Agree the winner should in the "mix" for a British title fight.... but hope it is not a final eliminator - don't think either warrant a mandatory shot.
Proper cross roads fight this - from what I have seen of them think Carruthers will be too strong for Welborn.
Does the OP know if there is going to be a TV camera there (wouldn't mind watching this on youtube).

Always thought that was a way of making the promoter some cash.... many record the show for their own posterity or for their fighter to view to work on mistakes etc.... sell the DVD of the bill at a £10 a DVD outside the venue in their next fight.... will make some cash and might get more punters in - nobody would be expecting a slick Sky production. Bet you they'll sell better than fight programmes.
The main cost is getting the cameraman - and many small hall promoter get that anyway.

From wat I heard on fb and twitter welborn won after the fight was stopped in the 8th after carrutherss was stopped by a cut. From numerous people it seems terry was well in control of the fight boxing very well and was up on the 3 scorecards. But welborn was always in the fight but was been outworked by terry. Hopefully insider or jp will comment on their thoughts of the fight.

Hey Maley yeh terry got beat on acut in the eighth Well done to jason he kept plugging away after falling behind. The cut was very bad and there were three cuts in total Terry was boxing well and infront on all three cards by good margins. Both lads were tired and it was a cracking fight. Jason goes onto a british title fight hopefully terry has to pick up the pieces once more and give it another try.Without the cuts i really think it was a carruthers win as we up on the cards and had taken everything jason thru with no problems and was still winning rounds even when cut and in front. Thats boxing well done to jason good luck on the next one and hopefully Terry can keep improving and get back in there soon
