Well he'll lose his title then. Unless his promoter wins purse bids (unlikely as he's isn't a draw) he have to come to the U.K to fight Brook. I would imagine as Brook's the mandatory it will go to purse bids soon.

We all know Brook will break a toe-nail on the week of the fight.

How can a fighter call anyone out then refuse to travel ?
Nob head.
Book your flight or lose your title.
Precedent set on mandatories by the McDonnell case - or get someone to put a purse bid in of merit.
If ever a poster had the right sign on ....... sad little boy.

After Burns v Beltran and Froch v Groves, would you go to the UK to fight a Matchroom fighter?

After the scoring in the Mayweather fight and also remember James Kirkland been beaten and the opponent got DQ for there cornerman entering ring. Also the amount of dodgy decisions in Germany to don't think the UK is that bad really.

I think the UK is taking over from Germany in that regard.

Kell would have gone there for Devon so lets go do it in front of no fans if that's what he wants.
Get the belt and defend it at home or for mega money cross the pond.
Kell Brook is the next IBF champ regardless IMO.
Two things I really hope is Matchroom sort out a proper travel package if it is away.
And secondly that an undefeated Britsh fighter who has never mugged the fans has gone through all put in front of him. Who was miss managed for periods of his career and had a shit run of luck with injuries catches a break from all the pricks who slag him for things beyond his control when he does win his title.
I sadly doubt there's a hope in hell of either.

Cmon T, as much as you criticise us who dare to criticise Kell, you show no objectivity yourself! So I guess I and others imagined it when Kell had the option to fight Mike Jones in a final elimator for the belt? Him or his dad didnt turn that fight down then? He also didnt get offered the fight with Bradley either when he moved over to matchroom?

it won't matter, Porter is mustard. I like Kell, but he's going down if they fight.

It's a mandatory. It has to happen. If he wants home advantage make sure the bid's right. Simples.

This is true (unluckily for Porter). If I were a non-British belt holder I'd do everything I could not to come here to defend it. I'd even take my chances in Italy before the UK, equally likely to get shafted but the women are prettier and the food's better.

Definately not.
Based on the recent run if dodgy decision he'd need a knock out to get a draw.

Porter is the champ he calls the shots. Why should he travel? Brook has to travel. Goldenboy has big pockets, look for this to happen in atlantic city

I don't agree ...judging I think in gernany may have improved slightly however the us uk and Germany are all capable and suspect for a dodgy result... no worse or no better .

I've always struggled with understanding how mandatories are enforced across the sanctioning bodies.
I'm assuming in this instance Porter is forced to face his mandatory within a set period of time, the location of which is dependent on the result of purse bids, so the location isn't his choice if he wants to keep the title. But I'm still not sure why some rules are enforced for some guys and some aren't. Vitali for instance.

Mandatories are strictly enforced by the IBF since they were investigated by the FBI and found guilty of selling rankings. As a result strictly enforce mandatories to the point where they've lost all common sense and have become strip-happy (e.g Jamie McDonnell) and enforce silly mandatories involving the same characters again and again (see South African merry go round for the IBF superfeatherweight title, amongst others).
With the other organisations they are allegedly a law unto themselves and it would appear mandatories seem to be allegedly only enforced when a mandatory challenger has a powerful promoter backing them ( might be a coincidence
![[icon_knockout.gif] :KO:](./images/smilies/icon_knockout.gif)
). At the same time if a champion is backed by a powerful promoter and is a champion of great standing/long reign they also seem allegedly to be given allowances outside the rules.
From the outside looking in, outside the IBF, you could say allegedly the governing bodies allow the mandatory challengers or champions with the most money do what they want. allegedly.

if they cant come to an agreement (after Kel has had another 4 final final eliminators) then it goes to purse bids
but so far i cant recall eddie breaking the bank for any of his fighters, hense why they all seem to fight for titles on the road
so i doubt it will be in sheffield.... if it happens

He came to an agreement on the Burns-Crawford fight in his defense. I suppose it's a little bit different though as Ricky will be entitled to 70/80 % of the purse or whatever it is because he's the champion.

it will cost alot more to get Porter here ie to win the purse bid than to win the Crawford one
i dont get the impression that Matchroom pay big... they stick to their business plan at a guess (which is good)

because it's a mandatory defence and it goes to purse bids, so lets see if Goldenboy are willing to put their hands into their deep pockets to guarentee home advantage for Porter. If not Porter has to back his bags and come to this Great country for his beating

There's hometown favouritsm whichever country you go to, it's not solely a UK problem.
