Murray at 2?

He looked like garbage in his last fight and has not 1 notable world level win on his record.

Horse thinks he beat Martinez and Sturm (I had him losing both fights, but they were very close) and it seems he ranks as such. To be fair, I think he's right in going beyond official results when formulating the rankings, as official results can paint a very distorted picture of what happened in the ring and how good someone is.

If you get beyond the fact that Murray didn't officially win either bout (and perhaps consider that someone like Burns didn't deserve to retain his title last time out), his case for number two is fairly strong imo, though he obviously didn't look good last time out.

In saying that Froch shouldn't be number 1.. He got a victory over Kessler in a very close fight.. I had Kessler by 1 round in a very close one. Then he is dominated by Groves and early stoppage. Murray never looked great in his last fight.. Burns the same.. I would probably have Groves at #1 Froch at #2 and Burns at #3 Degale at #4 and Murray at #5

I believe your card for Kessler-Froch II is highly questionable. It seemed like a competitive but very clear win for Froch, and I don't think anyone can make a strong case that it's unreasonable to act as if Froch legitimately won the bout. While the Groves-Froch stoppage was highly premature in my view, the former was clearly in trouble and a fair stoppage at some point seemed like a realistic possibility, so I don't think that bout should be treated as a Froch loss and a Groves win. If, however, Horse believes that Groves somehow beat Froch, his current rankings are harder to defend.

Just months ago Murray had a very close fight with and arguably deserved to beat someone who is generally ranked number one in his division and considered a top ten fighter p4p globally, or who at least was entering the bout. That is more impressive than anything Burns has recently done, and even though Murray just looked unimpressive in a stay busy fight he hasn't had a streak of life and death struggles like Burns has.

I have no issues with someone other than Murray being number two, but I think his placement there is quite defensible.

James DeGale?

Huh?

In the last 12 months he has beaten a who's who of the Big Book of Boxing Nobodies. He may have some potential that he is yet to realise in his 5 years as a pro, but to say he is the 4th best fighter in the UK is simply laughable.

Horse - David Haye has yet to announce anything so to say he is retired is slightly presumtious!!! ;;-)

Assuming a guy that's not fought in 18 months has retired is hardly presumptuous.

He's beating fighters who are decently ranked.. He also arguably beat Groves. He is along with Groves the best 2 boxers that we have.. Both have the potential to be genuine Number 1s in there division unlike Froch and at the minute unlike Burns and Murray..

You know best ... it was very remiss of me, I completely forgot I work for David!!

David has yet to formally announce what plans he has with regards to his future in boxing. He has definitely not at this stage announced he has retired!!

Framptons best win clearly ranks him above Murray IMO. And actually so would Quiggs win against Rendall.

I Scored for Sturm & a draw, but not exactly winning your only 2 notable fights can't elevate you to the 2nd best in Britain surely? sad state of affairs if thats the case.

on the whole i generally quite like Horse British & world lists, but this is a big neigh from me.

OK he may not have retired, but anyone with no ring activity in 18 months has no place in a current P4P listing.

Life's too short to rely on fighters like David Haye. As an amateur and active cruiserweight he was a very good watch. Now, who cares? Hopefully the next generation will be fortunate enough to be less prone to injury.

To say degale is currently number 4 in UK p4p is one of the best things I have ever read on here.

Groves is ahead of Froch after he beat him up.

Murray is too high, he is not versatile enough and Martinez is all done and has been for a while.

If Murray had have been given the decisions against Sturm and Martinez then he'd arguably be top 10 P4P in the world, so I don't think being No. 2 in Britain is wrong.
