I knew that was coming. Greg was a good man, it's refreshing to see a rabid fan of a lesser fighter.

In 81 Page was dominated by George Chaplin, in 82 he was whipped by David Bey. He isn't making anything close against Bowe, ever. Late TKO or wide decision for Riddick.

I see Page a lot like I see Dokes....more potential than he ever showed...but he never showed enough to beat Bowe. Not gonna happen.

Ooops, I forgot to click on Page when I looked up Chaplin. I'd edit it, but I'm such a stickler best to admit when I fucked up.

Page did have a good run in those years, but he was dominated by Chaplin in 81 and Berbick in 82.

I don't think Page and Dokes ever mixed it up. I see you caught that.

The best of Bowe vs the best of Page...leaves Page with one more loss I'm afraid.

A rare lapse of memory. I knew Chaplin kicked his ass in 80 & 81 so I just looked him up because it would have been quicker than running through the Page's. Then old age set in.

On paper Page could school him, but his whole career was exposing the difference between potential and reality. Bowe by decision prime for prime.

Yeah, Greg was good for about 3 to 4 fights, but afterwards, kinda slipped.But the guy was legit.As for the Chaplin II fight, I have the VHS, it was more of a draw, a case of a slightly overhyped fighter looking bad.If an over-hill Tony Tubbs gave Riddick all he could handle, and Page was Tubbs equal at the minimum, then Greg could give Riddick a boxing lesson, and speed he could never handle.And agility and fluidity he had never seen before.The prime version of Page got this.

As amateurs, in the National Golden Gloves semifinals of 1976, a 17 year old Dokes decisioned a 17 year old Page by 3-2 decision.

You're the only person I've ever encountered that doesn't think Chaplin was brutally robbed twice. He didn't win 6 rounds in those fights combined.

Tony Tubbs was harder to hit than Page was and Riddick clearly beat him anyway. That's a case of a decision picking up steam through the years.

Holyfield had more speed, fluidity & agility than Greg Page could dream of.

Greg Page......I really believed he was going to be the next thing...but fairly early on I got the impression he was limited in his firm commitment, though truly blessed in the talent dept. IF he would have been a lazer on his boxing, I think we could be having this discussion on a serious basis. Bowe took it serious at least for while, and doggedly pursued excellence, and reached it for a time. Then he just sparked out. Page? He just never got that focused IMHO. He just never made it to his own personal best. At least Riddick for a while, asked the best of himself, and signed on. Page...never did this.

No offense taken, I appreciate a good sense of humor. Though I have no idea what a Padawan is.

Page being better at anything than Holyfield, past eating, is the comedy. I saw the first Star Wars when I was a kid and wasn't really into it. By the time the second one came out I was 10 or 11 and didn't care. I've been a nerd for Boxing since I was 7.

Yeah, the guy likes Greg Page which is fair enough, but I've never understood guys being fans of fighters, therefor needing to make outlandish claims about them.

Some people are forgetting just how good Bowe was during his best time anyway. I can't think of too that many I'd pick over him in that short span, let alone someone like Page.

Certainly Page never attained the level of performance on display in Bowe/Holyfield 1. Bowe declined after this fight, but only very slowly.

Holyfield had speed, but not on a Page, Dokes, Tubbs, Tyson level.Even Mitch Green in his youth was faster than Evander Holyfield.
