2013 was a great year for world boxing but an odd year in the UK.

There are circumstances but of our HWs

Fury 1 fight
Price 2
Haye 0
Chisora 4 (and mostly rebuilding fights)

This wasn’t a lot of action for the big money making division.

I know Price needed time out. Well done to Del who seems to have turned his career around.

But we need Fury back in the ring at least 3 times this year with 2 of them being significant opponents.

Price to get back on track. Again, 3 fights… the third maybe a raid on a top 10 contender.

Haye? I hope he does fight again.

Del, he’s getting there through hard work. I hope he gets another shot at a title soon.

I think Chisora has made a fatal mistake taking all that weight off. He might look good in the mirror, but I expect him to get stopped again soon, he appears more fragile to me now.

Outside of the HWs…

Apart from Froch’s 2 big fights it was a quiet year for the big names too.

Brook 2 fights
Khan 1
Frampton 2
Burns 2
Quigg 3

Looking back Frampton’s win over Martinez was probably the biggest achievement.

Brook, Khan and Frampton all need world title belts by the end of the year or at least to have fought for them.

Quigg will continue improving and winning.

I hope Ricky can beat Crawford. I actually think Ricky’s win over Gonzalez was excellent. Showed what a great fighter he is to lose rounds, be behind and still win the fight. And his bravery against Beltran should also be commended. I would not write Ricky off and if he beats Crawford, as I think he will, then people will get a little perspective on his last 2 fights.

I’d like to see Groves, DeGale, Murray, Gavin, Selby and Galahad all push on and move up to the next level in the sport.

To be fair Groves already has. Murray is about to. DeGale is almost there.

Bellew, Cleverly, McDonnell, Macklin and Munroe can all re-establish themselves.

And Carl Froch…I hope goes out on a win over Chavez, Golovkin, Ward or rematches Groves… Enjoy him while he’s still here.

I'm not sure. I've just had a look at his stats and he's actually not taken off as much weight as I thought, but, like I said, IMO he looked less sturdy against Scott, Gerber and Pala than he did previously.

Chisora managed to loose a lot of momentum in 2013, even though he won 4 fights.

He should have been fighting on Klitschko's undercards, spitting water at people and generally causing trouble.

He's let a big pay day slip through his fingers by not staying in Germany and being Wladamir's evil nemesis.

That's true. Chisora is not that good. He was robust enough and game enough to put in a decent shift against any heavyweight but he's not explosive and not great technically. His value is as a slightly unhinged heel.

That's true. Chisora is not that good. He was robust enough and game enough to put in a decent shift against any heavyweight but he's not explosive and not great technically. His value is as a slightly unhinged heel.

Yup, there is no point in trying to do things the conventional way with Chisora, he will get beat long before he gets close to a world title fight.

Chisora and Warren had nuclear heat in Germany after the Vitali fight, I've never heard a German crowd get that hot about boxing before.

Heavyweight boxing is a drab affair at the moment, there is room for a freakshow like Chisora at the top, even if he isn't really that good.

he seems to have calmed down alot since the haye fight. I think if he gets a few big wins under his belt this year we may see him regain that chip on his shoulder and become the panto villain again.
