Johnny Nelson by KO, 8th round ish whilst behind in points.

Underrated puncher was Johnny.

I actually would have loved to see this. Nelson wasn't around long while Haye was fighting but I remember wondering how a fight between them would go down. Feel like Haye would have been too good for Johnny but there's a chance Nelson could have done a Thompson on him, although I don't imagine Haye would have had 'The Entertainer' as badly hurt as Thompson was.

Johnny did call him out for a laugh after he had retired and for whatever reason it went viral.
It was never going to happen.
Difficult to forecast how it would go because Johnny would have been very evasive and did take a shot contrary to popular belief.
However Haye was a very powerful Cruiser.
Guess the form line is Carl Thompson .......

Carl was stopped far too early against Nelson, I think any fair minded fan would say the same, it was worse than the Groves stoppage, however Nelson had mullered him for 5 rounds anyway.

I think Haye wins this one - I just think he's a dynamite puncher at Cruiser and I'm not sure many Cruisers in history could have stood up to the power.

In syaing that against Nelson, David may needed to have done this early doors.

Did Ismail Abdoul go 12 with Haye? Or was that Enzo? If he could. Johnny could.

Abdoul is pretty iron chinned though and Haye used that fight to prove he could do the rounds, even though throwing 5 punches a round he didn't really prove anything.

Depends which Nelson shows up, he could beat Haye, but I just don't think he would.

I don't see Haye stopping Nelson either. The only guy to stop Johnny was a huge puncher and the shot that did it was square to the back of the head. Johnny was looking weary before that though but more from getting his tactics wrong than the other fellow being better than him.

I thought the title to this thread was - David Haye vs. Johnny Nelson (confirmed) haha!

style wise this is a tough fight for haye, I could see nelson doing hayes head in, wouldn't surprise me to see a wide points win for nelson, but if I had to bet my life on it id go for haye tko, good fight

It'd been a good bout; I think Nelson would have known too much for the Cruiser Haye; (a better bout would have been Haye v Norbert Ekassi, that would have been a shootout though it's for another thread).

Haye tends to get oversold on here from his cruiserweight days and Nelson massively undersold. Both had their pros and cons and I don't think Haye was this wrecking ball, invincible fighter at cruiserweight that some like to make out. I think Cunningham and Bell would have been difficult propositions for him but think he would have pasted the tough but limited Adamek.

I'm not entirely sure the build-up to this would have been comical/transparent/fake enough, particularly with SKY behind it. Would Johnny play the good guy or the bad guy here? I reckon he'd have played the good guy rather than the antagonistic guy that riled CAT so much and got into his head.

Nelson did have a good chin, and the elusive skills to much Haye around.
I've got the fight with Nelson and Ekassi, its the only time Johnny was stopped. Bit of an odd one he seems to be doing quite well for a couple of rounds, then gets completly gassed by a body shot.
Next fight Nelson goes the distance with huge puncher Sanders

it'd be an awkward fight with johnny in his shell.

nelson was defensively brilliant but extremely timid and his unwillingness to take risks versus big punchers should see him beaten by haye, who - let's not forget - got stuck in during some hard fights in the tough cruiserweight division.

Nelson has better stamina & strength but his bum would of gone v haye & he'd of been too negative
