What's the Copperbox Arena like? I'm thinking of going now there is a load of boxing there. Apparently, I can get there in a bit over an hour on public transport. Anybody watched boxing there?

I see the Chisora fight is there in February. The downsides are of course that I'll have to give money to allegedly, and also that I'll have to watch Chisora fight.

But should I get off my arse and watch some live boxing for only the second time in my life? Or being that I'm close to London, should I go somewhere better? Are there venues in London that are better for boxing than Copperbox?

I've always wanted to watch boxing in Bethnal Green for example. Though that wouldn't be as big a fight, obviously.

I went to the first show at the Copperbox and I like the arena. The layout is good, the food is decent and the view should be good from any seat. Whether you should attend depends on the card really.

You've got to do at least one show at York Hall if your from London and a boxing fan its like a rite of passage.

Not been Copperbox for boxing yet, went during the Olympics and would imagine it is very good for boxing.

Is the Copperbox exclusively for Warren (I know he signed some sort of deal) or is there the possibility of it being used by Matchroom if they wanted to? Would be an improvement on the Excel I would imagine.

Warren signed an exclusive deal for 6 shows over 12 months at the Copper Box, the show next month is the third of those shows. What happens after that is anyone's guess.

York Hall has been an unfulfilled ambition. Especially as I support West Brom, and this pub is nearby.




Maybe make a day or even weekend of it, hit the pub in the afternoon.

Surely as long as Copperbox let Wazza have his 6 shows then Copperbox could deal with Matchroom or whoever they want to eh?

He did say it was an exclusive deal.

If they're smart they'll have asked for it upfront, or at least some of it.

If you are relying on public transport check out the threads on previous shows - the main event was on so late that people had to leave before the fight had started.

Lots of businesses have cash flow problems/issues; they are not permanent though, it may get sorted and I'd have imagined Warren would prefer a happy camp to an unhappy one.

True, its a part and parcel of life. I was only joking, I'm sure Fwank has paid them. Just wish he'd put on better shows, like he used to do a few years back.

He used to have foreign champions over here making defences against other foreigners, brought Tyson and Tapia over. Now we get Rudenko/Midugno/Lamptey and various others.

As far as I know ITV and Sky used to pay a kings ransom for the rights to big shows back then. I guess Fwank would point to the cost of running a TV station himself these days. To be honest its perfectly clear that there simply isn't the budget, per show, that there used to be. He can't admit it, of course, and in all fairness it is to be expected given his subsidising of his TV channel. It is patently obvious when he's got the European heavyweight champ and is trying to match him against novice Italians, unknown Russians etc, that he is working to a budget that excludes bringing guys over like Dimitrenko, Charr, Ustinov, Hammer, Pianeta, etc.

If the TV channel has broke even by now hopefully it will provide the funds to stage some bigger fights this year.

I don't think it is actually that well connected to public transport and is poorly signposted
The views are not a fraction of what you would get at York Hall
One of the problems is the pace at which FW sets out the shows so I had to leave the first promotion before the end
Just come back from Hungary and Slovakia where there is a tradition of getting on with it
The food at the venue is pure rubbish
