Never would have guessed.

The WBC has been & still the elite title with no super titles it's had its Latino & international titles which has been good for fighters & promoters alike.the silver title has proven to be a certain qualifier & reading that he reduced 15- 12 & changed certain aspects shows he's done good things. Boxing as a buisness is no different to any other buisness but gets trampled on because there's more transparency.

Like all the best dictators his son will take the chair, vote himself in 'El Presidente for Life' and normal service will resume.

Jose has made some very bad decisions and caused a lot of boxers a lot of grief. I just hope someone better fills his shoes, but I know that it will be someone as bad or worse.

Condolences to the family--he was a human being, after all--but I will not miss his impact on boxing. Mostly, because as you said, Kim-Jong Mauricio will vote himself in & go back to raping the peons, er, serving the best interest of boxers worldwide.

Back in about 1986 I wrote to Jose Sulaiman asking if he had any photographs of Salvador Sanchez; he (or his office) sent me 5 glossy black and white prints of my hero - he didn't have to do that, it was a kind thing to do. Money, power and influence can corrupt the best of people and it wouldn't be easy to find a saint in the boxing world.

Nice little story that. Never happy to hear anyone has passed away. Think some people should grow up a little.

I agree mate (most of the time - few exceptions alla J.Savill). If something does come good, I hope boxing can benefit

J.Savill...haha. When he died he was clapped to his resting place, they took to the streets to wish him off. Joke was firmly on everyone except Jimmy and the guy I work with who actually was on Jim'll fix it and has his badge still.

Never respected this guy when he was alive, so the fact that is dead doesn't raise the respect level any further either. He represented a lot of what is wrong with boxing.
