Looks like sources are reporting on the above opponent for Fury on Feb 15th.

I know its a stepping stone fight, but it would be nice to see a fight that could be slightly competitive. But then this is what we come to expect from Fwank shows.

Knocked out 7 times, turns 40 in March.

is it just Frank though? look at Furys opponent. as for Matchroom theres always plenty of TBA = crappy Argentine last minute. When Hearn does it everyones happy cuz 'atleast the cards packed' cuz its full of 'names' against such opponents but when Warren does it its typical Warren....double standards.

I don't care about the promoter, they are no better than the other.

It is an utterly terrible, shameful opponent for a man who routinely trashes all-time greats and seems convinced he is going to be heavyweight champion.

Price's opponent being terrible doesn't make Fury's less terrible. To be honest I find it strange and slightly pathetic that anyone needs to bring up Price's opponent in a thread about this awful match.

I could bring up virtually any opponents for any card, the fact is Price is fighting tomorrow at the same weight and is a rival of Fury.

"Stacked Card" is the lingo for any show that gets arranged now

Stacked Card = Couple of Built up fighters vs Mediocre or faded oposition , lots of fights to soften the blow when one of the actually well matched fights or main event gets changed

or im i just being negative here ?

Price is coming off the back of two stoppage defeats. He was only ever going to be fighting a complete knock over job.

Expected more from Fury. Very disappointing.

Fury cannot lose this fight or the summer Chisora rematch is up in the air & allegedly losing a lot of money. Hence him meeting someone poor!

Yeah. I don't care too much about either man, but Price was due at least to fight reasonably competent Airich who carries a bit of a dig. Not Price's fault Airich failed the medical (by the way, anyone know what Airich's problem is?)

They've had a long long time to set up a February opponent for Tyson Fury, and they produce the type of boxer Audley Harrison would have imported at the peak of his BBC reign of terror.

If he beats this chap then beats Chisora he will be no better off than where he is now.

It's a case of him sitting tight, not taking any risks and plodding along until he gets a title shot.

Taking risks isn't the done thing with Fury, unless he is going to be earning massive dough out of it ( hence why the Haye thing come about )

This is the thinking that baffles me.

He's allegedly good enough to fight for and even win the world heavyweight title. . .

And therefore he cannot be 'risked' against an opponent ranked in the top 100?

If this man is good enough to fight for the world heavyweight title then fighting anyone in the inconceivably weak top 15 should be a breeze. He should be mopping the floor with anyone if he's as good as he claims he is, not fighting 40 year old men with 7 KO losses. Pathetic.

I thought taking on McDermott in his eighth fight was risky, as was boxing an unbeaten Chisora in his fourteenth.

It's a shame. I'm a Fury fan and he is an entertaining chap, in and out the ring. Its been the case with him since he came on the scene though.

He has yet to fight a banger, and that isn't changing anytime soon. I think both parties are hoping that Fury/Chisora is made some kind of final eliminator. If it is, its a blag of the highest order!

I guess if either fighter can secure a title shot off the back of such a fit then fair play to them. Won't do Fury any favours in regards to preparing him for someone like Wlad though.

I have always thought they should fight on the February show, with the winner going forward to face someone like Pulev or Helenius.

I don't think Fury himself avoids anybody. McDermott certainly "old manned" him in the first fight so yes it was a risk seeing as Fury lost that, but he did the business in the rematch.

Its just another disappointing opponent for Tyson.

Nope. There should be a glossary for modern boxing.

"Stacked card" - see above

"Tough opponent" - once very nearly lasted the distance against someone who was once quite handy, long ago

"Genuine test" - lasted the distance against someone who was once quite handy, long ago

"Defining fight" - someone who was quite handy, long ago

"Disgraceful being-thrown-to-the-wolves match" - a genuine fifty-fifty fight

"His contract's running out, see" - anyone challenging an established champion

I actually agree with this. Fury has a boxrec ranking of '4', this guy has a ranking of '97'. If this guy was offered to the Fury camp for sparring, he'd be turned down because he's crap. How do fights like this get sanctioned, its appalling...

Poor opponent, be over in the first 3 rounds, this is a type of opponent price would of took, poor tune up for the chisora fight.

Think Mick is still with Fury, Fury is having a few fights on Warren show before a co promoted show in the summer against Chisora.

At least Price has defended his British title against people who were British standard. It weren't his fault that there aren't many decent heavyweights at domestic level after Fury wanted nothing to do with him. Also Price immediately rematched somebody who had just beaten him.

That was my understanding, but it's not been made clear.

I think it's another nail in the coffin of Channel 5 boxing, if I'm honest. Because why would Mick want him on allegedly if there was plenty of opportunities for Fury to box on a terrestrial television channel?

I wonder which channel we'll see DeGale pop up on next.
