What's with the rationale that claims that because Mesi and Guinn have looked less than stellar, the field is open for Audley.

I know it makes it easier for the BBC to hype Harrison's chances on the world stage, but it is a threadbare logic.

In terms of the current top 20 we can expect most of
the Klits, Tua, Toney, McCline, Ruiz, Rahman, Brewster, Gomez, Oquendo, Byrd to still be competing in 2 years time.

Plus there is the distinct possibility of fringe fighters (both in ascent and decline) like Peter, Brock, Barrett, Etienne, Dokiwari, Williams (jeremy), Maskaev, Golota, SSSam, Akinwande to still be punching for pay.

Not forgetting potential wild cards Tyson and Jones Jr.

Somewhere along the line Audley would have to beat at least three of the aforementioned before he earned a genuine world title shot.

Ignore the Mesi/Guinn smokescreen.

Also, while Mesi hasn't looked to hot he has probably beaten two top 15 fighters in his last two outings (some people even had Williamson in the top 20). He's still undefeated, so beaten them IMO has somewhat enhanced his reputation. I actually tipped Jirov to beat him.

Good point with the rest of the post, by the time Harrison steps up the likes of the fighters that you mentioned can get over their setbacks and come again before Harrison considers himself ready. He is not in the top of the pack, IMO he is not even in the World's top 30.

Yes i think people should lay off Mesi, he may have limitations but he has stepped up in class and is still busy winning while he is being slated. I think he would make short work of Julius Francis that's for certain.

IMO When the three fighters done the Ring Magazine photo shoot, Mesi and Guinn should have been considered fringe Contendors (ranked between 10-15, beaten some top 25 fighters) wheras Harrison is the level below. A level that includes most of the Brit boys, because if they are ranked above him domestically, then of course their world wide rankings should be higher.

Since then of course, Guinn has lost which places him in which drops him to the upper echelons of the Harrison/Williams level. Mesi has had two big wins, and I would place him above the fringe contendor to geniune top 10 fighter (should he return).

Harrison has fought no-one to get out of the level I placed him before that photo shoot. Otherwise we would all be ranking him 1 in Britain, and NOBODY does that currently.

Harrison, just like the other Brits is way behind the contendors.

Good post deadpan, it's like the BBC want people to believe that there's only 2 serious rivals out there for Audley and now that they've been somewhat exposed he's got a clear path to a world title.
