Is it likely to happen?
I'm confident Kell is several levels above Frankie on all fronts.
With that in mind as a warm up before Porter it's a good match.
Does Frankie deserve it not yet and I don't think he's ready.
But a loss to Brook wouldn't hurt his career.
Thoughts?

It won't happen unless both become world champions which isn't going to happen any time soon, due to promotional arrangements/

Brook will face a tomato can in his next fight as no risks will be taken with a guaranteed world title shot ahead.

Who would win Columbo hypothetically IYHO?

The only worry I would have for Frank is the weight. Kell seems a light middle, Frankie a light welter.

Won't happen and I'd take Gavin. We still haven't seen anything close to how good he really is.

Still unsure how good either can be.

Well this year we are going to see how good Kell reallyis. Especially if he ends up fighting Keith Thurman who I'm really impressed with.

As for Gavin he needs a significant step up next before we start talking World Titles for him.

I think it's a hard one to pick. I think they're both talented guys with good/very good boxing brains. Kell's extra power might factor in to be fair.

I am a perennial believer, and I hope 2014 is the year we finally see him shine. They need to stop fuxking around with cheapo opponents and get somebody over who Frankie can get up for. I don't really see why he wouldn't deserve it. Whilst Brook has fought better comp he's hardly been fighting world class fighters. Would love to see it, think it's a fair bit closer than I imagine most will on here too. There isn't many fighters I'd prefer to see a Brook in with either, if it's not a world title fight or a Guerrero type why not Gavin?

Make it happen we'd see how good Gavin is i'd have my money on Frankie to up his game and beat him

#fastcar ain't got the balls to make Brook-Gavin. I'd pick Gavin to win a UD but if we are being honest he doesn't sell tickets and is a huge risk for little reward.

In my opinion though Frankie Gavin just might have the best boxing skills in this country and he's very underrated. It's just frustrating that he hasn't really had a bit test yet.

Leonard Bundu would be a perfect test and is rated number 3 by the IBF allegedly needs to take a gamble and bring him over here

My money would be on a Kell Brook stoppage win. I don't think it would be that competitive.

Kell Brook is a much better boxer then people give him credit for, he has a great jab, so he is not just a puncher.

Frankie's chin looks solid and Kell isn't a huge puncher. The only way he could stop him would be cuts.

Could be right. Gavin does look like he is made of stern stuff. Brookes is a deceptively hard puncher though -a very good body puncher too. Good to see that they are both back boxing quite regularly again.

I'm really disappointed in Brook's career trajectory. Eddie Hearn tried to prop up that Senchenko fight but that was a shit fight of the highest order. I guess now that Devon lost to Porter maybe Hearn will put Brook in with Alexander. But I'm not banking on it.

True,his weakness is inside and when he is on the back foot, but not many can get past his jab,speed and power, boxer punchers will cause him problems.

They don't need each other right now in terms of career progression/priorities, public interest or financial needs. Brook is ticking-over, ever-patiently waiting for his shot and Gavin has much work to do in terms of learning, raising his profile and getting a truly meaningful ranking.

But 18 months down the line and I am taking Gavin who despite his bizarre, unsettled, chaotic start (who is my tainer this week and where am I living?) and less than impressive physique; is a definite, undisputed talent.

Gavin just times punches and judges distance better than anyone I've seen for some time and he picks every shot supremely well; without wasting energy or risking getting hit himself. Frankie is going to rise the top is his own sweet time but once he gets there we'll all need to take notice. The pompous analogy is that he's a fine wine...

Don't think it will happen, if Brook looses his World title challenge this year I can see him going up to Light Middle

I get the impression he is only staying at welterweight to get a fight with amir khan, he seems more interested in that fight than having a world title shot.

Won't happen anytime soon, but if it did Gavin beats him !
