Wouldnt surprise me. Saying that though, I think Carl and Eddie would rather give up the belt than allow that to happen.

It will gta lot of casuals paying £10.00 registration fee plus 60K at Wembley.

GG made a good move holding out.

Your thoughts?
I'm certain he will, but I'm also certain Froch would give the belt up if FW won the purse bid.

Absolutely agree. Whatever Groves said to the IBF a few weeks ago obviously has worked bigtime. It will be a big reputational hit if Matchroom don't make the fight now and vacate instead.

As a Promoter, Eddie will bid high, he has no choice.
As the promoter for his world champion he should bid high, which will make a change given his record for sending his fighters overseas in world title contests, but I believe FW will outbid him on this occasion

Then Hearn better pay George well.
The decision has now been taken by the IBF - it changes things a lot, as Eddie himself has confirmed. All he has to do is abide by the IBF rules and pay George the 15%. Remember, the IBF rules state the percentage, not the amount of money. George has to accept the 15% or withdraw, if he did that I'm sure the IBF would demote him in the rankings.

George has spent his own money lobbying the IBF for this decision. It is inconceivable that he wasn't aware of the 15% situation. The decision came through today, and George is over the moon with it. I don't see a problem with him accepting the 15%, that is quite simply what the rules state and he will have known that.

I think Warren will bid. But I honestly think Hearn will go higher. I think the bigger question is will someone else get involved?? Maybe a big American promoter? Sky will work with whoever wins the purse bids and they have massive funds to splash!! If they feel Groves might win it might build for a huge PPV against Ward. There is a lot of ifs and buts. One thing is for certain their will be a lot if interest

There's no full moon at the moment, yet the crazies are out in force.

Anyone who thinks there is any chance of Froch fighting on a W£rren card on allegedly needs to check into their nearest asylum.

Froch wouldn't fight on a Warren show on allegedly, but that's just even bigger incentive for Frank to put a massive bid in because of the situation it would put Froch in, if he gives up the IBF belt he loses any legitimate claim to be world champion, or he fights on allegedly on a allegedly show and he won't want to do that.

I think that's the point that people are missing. It's a win win for Warren!! Froch fights he makes millions. Froch vacates he is in a strong position to make Groves v Degale 2 for the vacant title.. I'm sure this fight giving the huge turn around in Groves stock would increase the subscriptions massively and is a huge fight which will cost less money to make. That along with Fury v Chisora would sell out a very large stadium and turn allegedly fortunes massively.

The people that don't think this will go to purse bids need to realise unless Hearn backs down to Groves demands this will go to purse bids. Froch is too stubborn to let Groves do this too him again. My money is on the belt being vacated some point in the next month

If Wazza wins and Froch fights, Froch-Groves II and Fury-Chisora II on the same bill would be an incredible show.

Erm - forget about Froch not fighting on BN - hasn't Groves already walked away from Wazza once ?
Purse bids wont be needed.
Game on - Sky Sports PPV and everyone smiling when they pick up the pay packet.

Dont forget, if a bid is won, proof that the purse can be covered needs to be provided. Thats where it all goes wrong for a certain somebody

He walked away on good terms and with Wazza's full consent, how often does that happen? More than likely he signed with Hearn because he was after the Froch fight. Froch won't fight on a Warren show because he's signed with Eddie Hearn and Sky, George Groves isn't, I doubt he cares what channel the fight's shown on, or who the promoter is, as long as he gets the fight, gets paid and finishes up a free agent.

I would be very surprised if allegedly doesn't have the money to bid, he owns the TV channel, so he chooses how much is paid for TV rights, Bill Ives is a major financial backer of his and Fwank himself isn't short of cash, even if his promotional company appears to be.

Would the proof not need to be from the company winning the bid, ie queensberry?

Very few promotional companies would have that sort of money in their accounts, I don't know the ins and outs, but part of the purse bid is lodging a bond of 10% when it's won, if the promoter pulls out, they lose that money. I would guess some of it is proving where the money will come from, but I doubt it would be much different to Eddie Hearn saying the money will come from ticket sales, Sky TV money, sponsorship etc and showing a few details of that.

Ward isn't a draw though is he? That's the problem with him. For all his talent and ability, even his own countrymen aren't really into him.

The winner of any potential Froch-Groves rematch will be no more than a sacrificial lamb to Ward. He takes every round against Carl next time out and he stops George ten times out of ten, before round 9 and no early stoppages in sight.

If Sky want it, they will get it. Its like Chelsea deciding they fancy buying a footballer and their only competition is Fulham.

Loads of money to be made here, that's why it will happen.

Be a nice retirement fund for them both.

As for Chisora-Fury and Groves-DeGale being a potentially amazing card...this shows just how much the promoters over here have effed with some people's minds! Del Boy v Tyson is a B- heavyweight fight between a gatekeeper and potential world title challenger still taking a slight cherry picking approach to his career. The first fight was entertaining though. Which is a lot more than can be said for the first Groves-DeGale fight!

It's daft even talking about it. It's not going to purse bids. Both fighters want it, despite what they might say in the press and media. They've sold the fight brilliantly again. It's worth a fortune. There's no chance at all sky/Hearn let it get to purse bids when they can quite easily give both fighters what they want

Can they give both fighters what they want? If there's a single option in the deal Groves won't sign, Froch is unlikely to agree to a split less than 75-25, but Groves wants good money for the fight, so Froch would need to be paid more, but is the budget there for that? Hearn wants to make big money from the fight and won't want to stand any chance of losing a penny, Sky will only put up so much money and would want Groves to fight on there in future, then there's all the other costs of the show to cover on top, plus Sky are not some all powerful force that blow away everything in their path, other broadcasters will be interested, BT have outbid them for football rights, Sky's main sports market, allegedly and allegedly will undoubtedly want to show the fight, Golden Boy and Sauerland will be interested as well.
