Following Colin Lynes' surprising and controversial win over Pablo Sarmiento he probably now finds himself at the top of a conjested domestic rankings (outside of Hatton and Witter). What fights would you consider if you were Barry Hearn.

Personally, I think he will probably end up doing a Brian Magee and defend his IBO title for a couple of years, however surely he must be considered as a canditate for one of the top two positions in the BBBoC rankings.

I'm not sure of the current situation with the British title, but I assume Witter must be forced to face long standing #1 contendor Bosworth or face being stripped.

I think Hearn should prime Lynes to fight for the Bosworth for possibly the vacant title. It will be a good fight, I don't think either would break into European class and both seem to be in career best form after a few setbacks.

I personally think it was Bami who should have been given the opportunity to claim a good scalp in Sarmiento. A good win over him and Hearn speech about Bami vs Hatton would have had some more validity. For me, it is Lynes who has jumped ahead of him in the rankings and also the queue for the bigger fights. Bami has always been part of the "who wants him club" and I can't see that changing. I think that why Hearn mentioned Hatton, because nobody wants anything to do with him. I can't see any decent domestic fighter risking themselves against him.

Perhaps Hearn should really press for Bami vs Bosworth and let Lynes focus on his IBO title for a year or so.

I was at ringside when Bami lost to Malinga, and I remember being disappointed for him as I'd been reasonably impressed with Bami from what I'd seen of him up to that point (although probably not as disappointed as one of Bami's sponsors, who turned up with his party when me and the missus had popped out for a beer, and sat in our seats - probably reasonably assuming that he'd coughed up a lot of money so the only remaining ringside seats were probably his. He had to bugger off to sit in the VIP section, which was bloody miles away from the ring, and then his boy got chinned). It's good to see him back in the mix.

Whilst I was suprised by one of the judges margin of victory for Lynnes, I thought it was a fair decision in Colin's favour. He used the jab better and landed the cleaner punches, although Pablo's uppercuts were impressive too. It was also a truimph for "boxing" over "one shot and grab" merchants which is Pablo is, albeit a good one.

I'd like to see Lynnes and Bami try and estbablish themselves as front runners for the British title given that Witter may vacate if if he wins the European.

Good post. Do you think Ringside will pair Lynes and Bami together for the IBO title? Bami seemed to be the man next in the frame by his ringside position.

I can't see it Bennie, as much as I'd like to. If you remember, Barry made his position quite clear regarding Jamie Moore and Richard Williams about them not boxing each other. It might be the same here.

Very true. Lynes can cash in with the right type of matches now, much as Jawaid Khaliq has cashed in on his IBO belt. It's just the Jason Cook-Kevin Bennett IBO showdown got me thinking that maybe they'll pitch in Bami with Lynes, old amateur rivals of course.
But Bennett had his Commonwealth title to fall back on.

It would be an entertaining match , but I'd fancy Lynnes as things stand.

Shouldn't be a hard match to make, I saw Ali winning on the Brodie-Chi 2 undercard, so that suggests both boxers are working with Barry Hearn.

Believe me it was an off night for Ali against Peter Dunn,

He had been training solid for a southpaw, as he was suppose to be fighting John Marshall for the British Masters Light Welter Title which fell through with 2 days notice. Peter Dunn was a late replacement (which I give him full respect and thanks for stepping in) but Dunn was a stone heavier than Ali and it was not for a title but a mere 6 rounder. Ali was gutted about the Title fight and I could see it reflected on his performance.


Ali has not got the time to mess around and work through the rankings as he is an officer in the Namibian Defence Force and is on 2 years leave, they will extend his leave but only if he proves that he can win something.

He is a great kid and very well mannered, he has lots of respect and discipline and listens to his trainer Bob Shannon.

He has lived through 2 wars in his country of Namibia, tragically losing half of his family and survived being tortured and beaten himself.

Ali prides himself on the fact that no matter what he endured he never let any information out and kept his mouth shut throughout. (Thats why I call him the Silent Assassin)

Believe me this kid can fight!!!

Hopefully a high ranked fighter will accept a fight with Ali soon, believe me we have been trying to match him with them.

Sounds interesting, I like it when fights start off like this and then build into somthing biggish. Should be fun seeing if a fight can be arranged because of this website.

Forgot to say, Ali has built up a great following in the UK selling nearly 400 tickets for his last fight. His fans are of good nature and create a great atmosphere, they are a credit to the sport.

Let`s keep it simple for u guys.The only 2 in the IBO top 35 who can box Lynes are Hatton and Witter,all the others bar Bami,aren`t in the top hundred.Get real!

Oh, that's right. The IBO, unable to produce their own rankings, have said that challengers for an IBO title must be ranked in the top 35 of the Independent World Boxing rankings.
