On Twitter now, Del Boy vs Kevin Johnson.... whats the thoughts on this one?

I expected total garbage, this is a pleasant surprise really.

What would be really good, would be if Johnson actually got in the ring wanting to fight. He was pretty good on the way up, but didn't seem to me to be wanting to win against Vitali, Fury and Hamer. I saw a few of his fights when he was on the rise and he was good.

Deontay Wilder is supposed to be fighting Malik Scott the month after. It would be brilliant if the elusive Scott exposed Wilder - brilliant for Delboy, I mean. I wouldn't rule out the upset, Wilder's record has been built on stiffs who couldn't get out of the way, Scott is a different style and could upset the apple cart.

Scott isn't really a puncher, but he has the ability to make Wilder look stupid, if Wilder can't land a big punch, he has no real hope of winning since he's a poor boxer and Scott probably still hits hard enough to take him out if Harold Sconiers can put him on the floor.

Kevin Johnson was on Eurosport just before Christmas and lost. He has accepted his place as a journeyman now. With some ambition he could give anyone problems, but he just goes from Country to Country picking up the pay and losing.

He is a promoters ideal opponent.

He's beaten Leapai and Haumono on the road in the last two years and I thought he was unfortunate to lose against Hammer. So, your comment is wrong.

Agree with you if he motivated he could beat Chisora.

I doubt it Horse but we'll see against Chisora, I was not impressed by his lack of effort, he could do so much more.

I wonder what odds Scott is to KO Wilder.

Let's see if Chisora can do better with Johnson than what Fury did.

Yep. I remember when he was considered a pretty strong prospect on the basis of a very good jab and some nice moves. Only to join nearly every heavyweight of the past 10 years in Lazy Fat Slob-dom.

good bit of matchmaking im pleasantly surprised the fury v chisora rematch is big business, and Price is targeting fury too its really good having the 3 big named UK heavies all on the same channel. Hopefully they will get haye back to go with it.

Another plus in Johnson's favour is his visa seems to be in date and he has no problem travelling to face hometown fighters favoured to beat him. This should hopefully mean that on the night, Delboy will actually be facing Johnson. At this point in time - 3 weeks to go to a Copperbox show - it is normal for Delboy's replacement opponent to go awol and be replaced again. Johnson should be happy to come over though, and as I say his visa seems to be in order.

I actually think if he comes to fight, this could be a good scrap.

Me too. The biggest danger is Chisora overlooks him and Johnson actually turns up.

Good fight. Johnson speaks well, has some good wins and is a well skilled technician with a decent punch variety. The card actually looks reasonable at the moment as Skeete is in good fight as is Morgan. Not exceptional by any means but solid.

Johnson brings a bit of intrigue in the sense that he's likely to last the 12/10 round distance and is technically good enough to catch Chisora coming in so Chisora will most likely be asked to work the full schedule and pay attention whilst doing so. I know he's much fitter now but it'll be interesting to see if he can carry a decent pace into the last few rounds while keeping his mind on the job. Johnson is guilty of falling into sparring partner syndrome in fights but he polished off Wlad's next opponent a few years ago and he's only been shut out by Vitali and Fury who both tower over him and can take advantage of his unwillingness to press the pace by scoring from distance. Derek doesn't have that luxury and it'll make for a better fight.

What I meant was, maybe Scott has the elusive skills to avoid getting clobbered, and to nick the points as the rounds go by. It's what he does best and presumably he does understand that going toe to toe with Wilder will end badly for him.

Then again, Delboy caught up with him. And if Scott was any good he wouldn't have basically spent 14 years as a pro going nowhere fast.

I just think Scott is a departure from the usual immobile cannon fodder they feed Wilder. Deontay has been very carefully matched so far.

Johnston looked lethargic and gunshy when i've watched him, this would just be an invite for chisora to sit on his chest and blast away.

As for scott, being elusive will keep him in it for a few rounds, but you'll need something to deter wilder if your going to go 12 rounds with him. Scott doesn't have that, so he'll need to be very elusive, very resiliant and very lucky to go 12 without landing on bis backside.

Indeed, hopefully they can make some good matchups
