Paper Titles

I know boxing is going through a bit of a mockery at the moment with all the WBWho and WBF titles etc but I cant help but quite like the IBO.

Not sure why but I feel these guys are going to succeed as a recognised top belt. Could be the genius move of Having Lennox Lewis and Roy Jones Jnr as holders and they seem quite a professional set up.

The IBO also seem to be getting more recognition in the UK which can only be positive if both sides of the pond recognise the belt. Especially if the WBC dissolve.

Only time will tell I guess.

I can see why you like the IBO, out of the minor titles, they seem to be about the best. But like the rest of them, I'd rather not see them. They make the name of "World Champion" in boxing cheap. Also they take it away a little from the fighters that are the "World Champion".

Unless you know the sport, many are fooled into thinking they are watching world championship boxing.

The IBO have some brains getting names like Lennox Lewis and Roy Jones holding them. They were rewarded to them and as boxing seems to be about holding as many titles as you can these days, they look the part coming into the ring. But in reality thats all they do.

Too much money to be made to see it back to the old days of one Champion. Even the WBC who are regarded as the best, are having 2 holders of the title per weight. Like Tszyu and Gatti for example.
