Simmons vs Camacho off

Simmons has a broken rib apparantly. It's a real shame.
Surely people would still come out to see it? Ricky is the main pull on that card. No doubt we'll get served up with some dross now.maley1984 wrote:Saw them tweets about the fight and then chris keane has offered to step in but hearn declined the offer saying not in glasglow
Some will , I think Simmons was doing a great numbers with his tickets aswell. Shame but I'm sure he will live to fight another daycolumbo wrote:Surely people would still come out to see it? I think he'd beat Wadi, that's probably more likely the issue!Boxingcutsman wrote:Yh, I offered Eddie the fight this morning and he said no unfortunately, shame really has it seems to have got a lot of interest on twitter from reporters, fellow fighters, former world champions & most importantly the paying fans that all seem to want to see it happen.
Chris actually tweeted Simmons a couple weeks ago aswell and said if Wadi pulls out he would stand in to fight him, if he wanted it, has it happens it seems to have happend the other way around now unfortunately for Stephen, but we're still willing to stand in.
Logistically I know it makes no sense for Eddie and can understand his reply for the fight in Scotland has neither Chris or Wadi are Scottish but I think the fans would be in for a treat.
Hopefully Eddie makes the fight between Chris & Wadi for another show then that suits him logistically.
We have made it clear publicly that Chris is willing to fight any of the other top 10 in the division (even at short notice) and we mean it, there's no obstacles on our behalf, Chris is a real fighter, he's old school for a young man, he wants to fight the best to better himself, hope he gets the chances he deserves.
Same! I was looking forward to that more than Burns-Crawford!My Bird Performs wrote:B*gger I was looking forward to that.

I don't buy this mate, wasn't Eddie going on the other day how the tickets had flew out for this? I know Simmons had sold a lot but surely if they had flew out in general anyway these returns would easily be snapped up.Boxingcutsman wrote:Logistically I know it makes no sense for Eddie and can understand his reply for the fight in Scotland has neither Chris or Wadi are Scottish but I think the fans would be in for a treat.
Very good numbers from Stevie Simmons. With the right fight he can maybe get a big show in the Capital again!!sgtcecil wrote:Alex Morrison quoted today in sun saying Simmons had sold 800 tickets and asked for another 250 - good numbers!
aye it would be goodsgtcecil wrote:If he can sell 1000 for an undercard fight in Glasgow, he'd be more than capable of headlining a show in auld reekie!

While I understand as a promoter he needs to make sure theres a good live crowd..but thats done, he also as a tv promorter needs to make sure the show is entertaining to those watching on Sky. Wadi v Chris would be!
In my view they just don't want it as Chris would stop Camacho and they know it.
He's probably capable, but TV would be the issue, there aren't enough top fighters in Scotland to have 2 fighters topping the bill on separate shows, the undercards just wouldn't be able to stand up, they're pretty poor already.sgtcecil wrote:If he can sell 1000 for an undercard fight in Glasgow, he'd be more than capable of headlining a show in auld reekie!
Unfortunately I agree with youexpe wrote:He's probably capable, but TV would be the issue, there aren't enough top fighters in Scotland to have 2 fighters topping the bill on separate shows, the undercards just wouldn't be able to stand up, they're pretty poor already.sgtcecil wrote:If he can sell 1000 for an undercard fight in Glasgow, he'd be more than capable of headlining a show in auld reekie!
But Simmons would smash Keane to shredsBoxingcutsman wrote:ste1983 wrote:I don't buy this mate, wasn't Eddie going on the other day how the tickets had flew out for this? X2 IMO
But as I say IMO he'd destroy the likes of Keane,Dawson ectcolumbo wrote:Simmons is a solid fighter and seems like a nice guy but he's very basic. He's a plodder who doesnt hit particularily hard and isnt hard to hit. I very much doubt he'll do anything at world level. Might be able to win a european title if it's someone not great he fights for it.
