Carl Froch vs Nigel Benn -who would win?

I always thought that had they been around at the same time, Froch would have stopped Benn late on, because he has such a good chin. However, seeing Groves drop him so heavily, I have revised my opinion a little bit. Benn had devasting power and was lightening fast, and could now imagine a situation where he would really hurt him.
Or would Froch get back up, recover and pull it round? I'd have paid a good sum of money to see those two box each other.

The Groves fight made me respect Froch's chin even more than before. To come back from the awesome punch to take countless more big shots and end up forcing the stoppage albeit an early one. Hard to think of many other fighters in world boxing that could have lasted those first 5 or 6 rounds!
That said, Benn was also ridiculously tough as we all know and had bags more speed than Froch. Overall I think Benn might edge it in an all out war.

I think Benn would trounce him fast, personally.

I think probably Froch would have got to Benn late. It would have been a slog though.

I'll have to watch it again. The put down was a massive shot, a brilliant shot by Groves. But after that, there weren't as many
clean "bombs" as I'd read about and heard on the radio. Perhaps I'll need to go back. I'm not saying it wasn't violent, but it was no Barrera Morales or Castillo-Corrales.

Froch would win, but he'd come out of it with a face full of bruises.

it would be like a game of Wist where Froch is holding the King of Spades, but Nigel's got the Ace. I think Benn would find him pretty early with a massive shot and the fight would be over in 4 or 5 rounds. Even granite breaks if you hit it enough times.

I like that

I think it'd be more like a boxing match.

it would have been a great fight, I think froch would have won and maybe stopped him. I know hes every1s favourite whipping boy at the moment and u'd think he'd never actually achieved anything in the sport, but I think being the natural SM he'd just be too strong for nigel. Also if he used his jab it would give Benn problems.
Nigel could be vulnerable, in a battle of toughness I think theres only 1 winner. The McClellan result often hides benns vulnerabilitys. Froch, at no stage of his career would have been stopped like benn was vs Watson. And I remember him getting a few gifts along the way (the first fight with malinga springs to mind).OK the eubank fight was a war but benn was still stopped. Plus that last Collins fight, ok his tank was empty, but he still opted out.
I think its also worth pointing out that carl has mixed it with the very best on offer to him, Eubank and Benn NEVER did that, they didn't even fight the best in the UK. U could argue they weren't even domestic top dogs. Graham, McCullum, Nunn, Jones Jnr, Toney, Liles..... all avoided by our "ultimate warriors". And I say that as a HUGE benn and eubank fan. They are my favs. But people say "oh it will bother carl forever if he doesn't rematch groves...people will always remember....." and I think , "well no1 mentions all the fighters those two avoided..."
Froch just seems a fighter that's greater than the sum of his parts if that makes sense. From outside the ring his skills look awkward, but he MUST be a nightmare to face. Also, George groves appears to be becoming the most overhyped fighter for quite some time off the back of their fight. Howard Foster did him a massive favour in more ways than 1. (but lets not go down that road).

Reading the Eubank/Benn bio, The Hate Game I was reminded how often Benn shot his bolt or was badly rocked in his middleweight days. There was a better robustness in the draw with Eubank, and the win over stamina-starved Gerald, but he was never consistently brilliant and Benn's power at supermiddle wasn't as remarkable at the higher weight.

Froch wins everytime for me. Benn didnt have great balance & Froch would have boxed the same way he boxed Bute.
I loved Nigel Benn but think Froch has a style that beats him everytime.

The Nicky Piper fight shows that Benn could be defused by an intelligent long range boxer. And with the best will in the world, Nicky Piper is a pale imitation of Carl Froch.

If this was set during the early 90's then I would have loved to have seen what outfit Froch would have worn ?

If it was during the early 90s I'd take Benn in a heartbeat to batter the very young Froch.

I'm a big Benn fan and not such a big Froch fan but I reckon Froch would have a good chance here. Benn's power didn't really have the same effect at Super Middleweight and to give Froch his due he can take a helluva shot. I'm not sure Benn would've stopped him and the longer the fight went on the stronger Froch seems to get. Hard fight, either Froch on points or a late stoppage win.

Rounds 1-7 benn winning pretty easily, from 8 onwards becomes a question of whether benn can hold on until the end.
Would be a great fight. Froch is a fair bit bigger than benn though which could be an advantage.

Thank you very much. For the record I'd pick carl to outwork Eubank as well. Joe would've been too busy for him tho, winning a fight similar to his battle with Kessler.

Could be a draw. Probably could've turned in to a trilogy with both scrapping wins
