I think Ricky is getting bad press in this forum lately, the lad has beaten other put in front of him fairly. The judges for his last fight gave him a home town nod, thats out of his hands. Even in his 2 losses Burns should heart and dedication.
People need to get behind him and support the champion, watch a rerun of the Martinez fight, or even watch his last fight, and see a guy fight on with a broken jaw, he could of quit at any time, but kept going.
No controversy in the Crawford fight, Burns wins it.

I dont think it's Ricky that people have an issue with. It's the dodgy officiating in fights generally over here involving a UK fighter vs someone from outside the UK.

Crawford will win a decision that he deserves. Scores may be too close though.

Crawford is a good boxer, but i think the extended lay off for Burns will help him, he'll be recharged and box to a clear decision.

A strange premature stoppage is my selection.
Either the Yank rises to his feet at 9 and is counted out or he is soaking up pressure and the ref mistakes it for not returning punches and headlocks him.

I think Burns might be the one to get screwed over.

He also has an extended layoff by those standards between Mitchell and Gonzalez...........

Maybe a lay off away from the ring but not away from training camp.

Burns performances against Martinez, Katsidis, Moses and Mitchell were as good a run as any elite level British fighter with the exception of Carl Froch. Beltran should have got the decision but Burns was hampered by an injury which would have seen many fighters quit. He doesn't deserve to be the subject of this kind of jokey poll. And I don't think Britain is any worse than many other parts of the world re hometown decisions.

I agree with you here Horse, if its close at-all then Burns will get shafted.
I can't see a 'Hometown' decision on this occasion.
Burns will need to win convincingly on this occasion to get the nod.

I think Burns two fortunate fight outcomes in 2013 may count against him next month, in the same way that Bradley recently commented that, on his upcoming rematch with Pacquiao, if it is remotely close, the judges will give it to Manny easily. I think Ricky is not going to get any favours from the officials.
Not sure how many people would go along with me, but sometimes I think that if it's in the wind, so to speak, for the title to change hands and a bright new star gets crowned world champ, then sometimes that is indeed the way it goes if the fight is remotely close. These organisations are on a percentage of the total purse bid (sanction fee) so they make more money if they have a top world champ. For example, the IBF would make less money from a sanction fee for a Stuart Hall title fight, than if say Rigondeux was involved in an IBF title fight that was headlining on HBO. I think that, looking ahead, it is better business for the WBO if Top Rank's Crawford returns to the states with the WBO title.
One of the most blatant examples in history has to be when George Foreman was gifted the decision over the German, Schultz. It was simply in everyone's best interests for big George to remain champ.

That was an 8 month training camp though, Mitchell came off the back of a 6 month gap between fights, the first half of that was taken up with him getting married and taking some time off, Katsidis was 4 months after Cook, which ended in 90 seconds, so he was still fresh after the fight and Martinez came 4 months after his last fight, an 8 rounder and 15 months after his last 12 rounder. All of his best performances have come when he's taken time off to rest, then gone back into training camp without distractions.

Crawford is going to walk through Burns. No controversy could be invented for this one.

I've seen him fight and I don't see what all the fuss is about. He schooled Prescott, so did Kevin Mitchell, he's never been 12 rounds, never fought anyone world class and is fighting thousands of miles from home, at least Lacy had done something to generate all the hype around him.
