Anyone ever watch the Haugen Vs Paz trilogy?

I saw the first and third fight but not the second. Those were great battles. Similar sort of saga to Gatti vs Ward, though probably not quite as intense.

I was talking about the fight between Paz and Haugen that you haven't seen. All 3 of the Harding/Andries fights were excellent.drunkenpiper36 wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I don't recall the second fight being overly entertaining.
I haven't seen it in years. Incidentally, the winner of Bobby Cyz vs Andrew Maynard was supposed to take on the winner of Andries vs Harding 2, but it never happened, Which was basically the story of the light heavyweight division back in the early 90's. So many potentially good fights that never got made. But I do remember Steward telling Andries that " this is your last round." Dennis made it count.
I'll skip it then.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I was talking about the fight between Paz and Haugen that you haven't seen. All 3 of the Harding/Andries fights were excellent.drunkenpiper36 wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I don't recall the second fight being overly entertaining.

Its quite possible that Haugen and Paz might have made for interesting fights against Duran. But something also tells me that both of those guys would have eaten up too many hard shots for their own good.AngryGoon38 wrote:Paz and Haugen, either one would have put up a good fight with Duran imo.Especially Paz,he had that fearlessness,an element many of Duran's opponents/victims didnt have,at least when facing Roberto. It seems they were basically in this very defensive fear mode, which on one side enabled them to go rounds with Duran, but didnt make for an entertaining fight. More like a deer constantly running and sidestepping away from a raging wolf. Haugen would've been pretty awkward and frustrating for Duran but Duran would've won a clear cut decision based on aggression and higher connect rate wheras Paz-Duran would've turned into an all out slugfest/brawl which would've been very interesting and highly entertaining based on they're coinciding styles and Paz's Fearless Fighting edge.
As far as Haugen-Paz,yeah,they were very competitive boxing matches. Paz was basically the aggressor and Haugen the counterpuncher. They're coinciding style differences made for very competitively entertaining bouts. Paz's fearless ferocity and agressive style like i said, would've been so incredibly entertaining against a Lw Duran, wheras Haugen would be fairly competitive and likely go the distance with Duran but would'nt have been nearly as good, interesting, and entertaining from a fans perspective.

Duran fought Paz in his mid 40's and most thought he won their first fight. That would have been ugly 20 years earlier.AngryGoon38 wrote:Paz and Haugen, either one would have put up a good fight with Duran imo.Especially Paz,he had that fearlessness,an element many of Duran's opponents/victims didnt have,at least when facing Roberto. In fairness, neither man was prime nor fighting at their ideal weight. And Duran winning that fight was questionable. But nevertheless I agree that Roberto was the far older and more weathered of the two and would have dominated Paz prime for prime.Duran fought Paz in his mid 40's and most thought he won their first fight. That would have been ugly 20 years earlier.

Didn't Paz actually try to claim he was a better Lightweight than Duran?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Duran fought Paz in his mid 40's and most thought he won their first fight. Maybe, I don't recall that. I remember Duran dropping him hard with a right hand and Vinny running for his life in the rematch.gilgamesh wrote:Didn't Paz actually try to claim he was a better Lightweight than Duran?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Duran fought Paz in his mid 40's and most thought he won their first fight.
