But that is incorrect information. I have it from Gosselies, Belgium that Yvon was born on April 9, 1930,
not 1936.

The 1936 Date was incorrectly logged. The '6' is really a '0'.

18 year-old Cassius Clay, a lanky 6' 2' Negro from the United States competing in the {81 Kg} Light-Heavyweight
Division exhibited lightning speed with sharp right-hand leads to score a 2nd-Round Referee Stoppage over
Belgium's Yvon Becaus.

The 30 year-old Belgian, a strong and aggressive fighter could not match the speed of Clay late in Round 2, and
was dropped by a quick left hook and smashing right to the chin. Becaus returned to fighting after receiving the
Mandatory-Count, but was stunned again moments later when the 'whippet thin' Clay caught him with hard
chopping right to the side of the head, where the Referee issued a 'safe' Standing 8-Count.

The Referee permitted the bout to continue, and the Belgian tried to fight back, but was met with a fast double
'left-right' to chin by Clay which rocked him backwards. The Referee stepped in to stop the action at 2:45 of
Round 2 with Becaus still on his feet, but dazed from the onslaught from the American.

Yvon Becaus, was the Belgian 'National' Light-Heavyweight Champion in 1958 - 1959 - 1960. Yvon competed at the
1959 European Championships {May 1959}, and was eliminated in the Preliminary Rounds.

Yvon was ranked as the #16 Light-Heavyweight at the 1960 Olympics.

After the 1960 Olympics, Yvon Becaus turned Professional on November 3, 1960.

Yyon went 1-0-1 in his first 2-Bouts, then lost '4-Straight' {3 by Knockout}. After 2-years, he ended his Professional
Career in November 1962 with a record of 1-4-1 {0 KO's}
