Accusations that have come out? I have a sneaky feeling...
It wasnt so much Ricky I was thinking of when it comes to possible excuses. You make good points though.David McAllister wrote:If Burns gets beat from Crawford it will be because the best man won, I really don't think that Ricky will come out trying to blame anything or anyone else.
Imo Burns won't get beat, he has so much more experience than Crawford at this level and i think that Crawford's camp have pushed for the fight off the back of Ricky's below par performances in his last couple of fights but I think they might have bitten off a but more than they can chew!!!

All of the above possibly.David McAllister wrote:columbo wrote:It wasnt so much Ricky I was thinking of when it comes to possible excuses. Who you reckon would be looking for excuses?? His trainer, Manager or Promoter?
Because take your loss like a man. Dont say it was because of this or that or some crap. Just admit you were beaten by the better man.SNG wrote:Why are you always so negative? Of course they would be looking for excuses, just like any other team of any other fighter.
I'm sure ricky will. What control does he have over what he people around him say? And what does it matter what they say?columbo wrote:Because take your loss like a man. Yes he does employ them, but what actual control do you think he has over their opinions? And what they choose to say in interviews.palooka wrote:I understand what you are saying SNG and doesn't the boxer employ the trainer, manager etc? Though I reckon Burns would need to do a part time course in lion taming to have a chance of shutting Billys gob if the decision goes the 'wrong way' (I wonder what odds Beltran would give for that to happen?)
I'm sure I read that Bob Arum was campaigning for completely neutral judges and referee for this fight after his previous fighter was robbed.palooka wrote:I understand what you are saying SNG and doesn't the boxer employ the trainer, manager etc? And for the hate that Arum gets on boxing sites for things he's done and things he's not done - that man knows how boxing works A-Z.chad wrote:I'm sure I read that Bob Arum was campaigning for completely neutral judges and referee for this fight after his previous fighter was robbed.palooka wrote:I understand what you are saying SNG and doesn't the boxer employ the trainer, manager etc? The manager signs up the boxer, the boxer can't fight without a manager, I think Ricky has been with him for a long time, difficult to break free from a manager, unless the contract ends, but with his manager being brought in front of the board for his vile comments, Ricky could be allowed to part company, because of the damage caused to his clean image.palooka wrote:I understand what you are saying SNG and doesn't the boxer employ the trainer, manager etc? Nowadays it does not make that much difference, home is still home , I am sure Matchroom will have say in who is chosen.chad wrote:I'm sure I read that Bob Arum was campaigning for completely neutral judges and referee for this fight after his previous fighter was robbed.palooka wrote:I understand what you are saying SNG and doesn't the boxer employ the trainer, manager etc? You thought right.palooka wrote:I thought a boxer can be self managed
This is what makes things interesting in terms of Ricky's up coming court case with Fr&nk allegedly. No doubt Alex Morrison would be in the mix, in support of Ricky however a split between the 2, or tension caused by info posted by allegedly yesterday, could leave Ricky neck deep in the brown stuff.Anzi wrote:I think Ricky has been with him for a long time, difficult to break free from a manager, unless the contract ends, but with his manager being brought in front of the board for his vile comments, Ricky could be allowed to part company, because of the damage caused to his clean image.

You have to have a manager, it could be someone else or yourself, that is rule of the BBB of C, but it is very difficult in this industry to do it yourself and not well liked by promoters and other managers, i.e Audley Harrison, but in some other countries you don't have to have a manager, but if you want to fight under the BBB of C you have to. Managers get up to 25% of the fighter's purse under the BBB of C, after expenses ect.palooka wrote:I thought a boxer can be self managed and if he (she) chose to have a manager they paid a % of the purse; there's no legal requirement to have a manager - that's be a restraint of trade; surely.
Just for people's peace of mind, there will be no excuses should Ricky lose, his camp has been one if not the best so far.David McAllister wrote:columbo wrote:It wasnt so much Ricky I was thinking of when it comes to possible excuses.
