Petulant Arthur...again

Yesterday I cited how Alex Arthur, unhappy with the fact he isn't getting a straight shot at the vacant British title (given up by Michael Gomez), pulled out of a scheduled defence of his crappy IBF intercontinental title on June 26 with a supposed injured knee.
There's another reason. As a Scottish website today reports: Alex Arthur has been hit with a fine for going into the ring to fight less than 100 per cent fit.
Arthur lost his British super featherweight title to Michael Gomez after five rounds at Meadowbank last October.
It was later revealed that the Scot had been suffering from a throat infection before the fight started.
The irony is that the undisclosed fine and reprimand from the Scottish Area Council of the British Boxing Board of Control came after the contest was voted fight of the year.
Arthur said: 'I have been sworn to confidentiality over the size of the fine but what was I supposed to do on the night of the fight with Gomez?
'I was having my first professional contest in front of my own people in Edinburgh.The arena was sold out and I had the weight of a city's expectations on my shoulders.
'Was I supposed to call the whole thing off at the last minute and disappoint everyone? I'm glad the whole business is out of the way and I can concentrate on my next fight.'
