Havent researched it but got to be supermiddle hasnt it ? Off the top of my head can think of 7 brits that won world titles at this weight, has there been a more successful division for brits ?

Have acually just thought of 9 brits that won titles at middle !

super middle. currently we have the froch v groves rivalry continuing. froch has faced a considerable number of world class opponents. groves in a very promising fighter, regarded as world class.

in the calzaghe era, the welshman was challenged capably by woodhall & reid, who'd been champs (short term) not long before. bomber graham, aged, nearly won a title around this time. glen catley also held the WBC 168 title & dean francis was considered a superb prospect, en route to becoming a complete fighter, prior to the shoulder injury.

several years earlier, eubank & benn resumed their rivalry and while a shadow of their dramatic 160-pound fight, garnered huge TV ratings worldwide and much publicity, not to mention technical improvements from benn, who went on to defend his WBC crown 8 times successfully, including the savage and controversial bout with McClellan. eubank and Watson also resumed their rivalry, in a fight of awesome intensity that ended in injury for Watson. steve Collins wasn't british, but was a face on the british scene, and beat what was left of eubank and benn.

the super middles have the rivalries, the controversies, yes the padded records as well, and a huge number of successful title defences on the records of eubank & calzaghe as well as the solid 8 defences from benn.

Aint been too shabby at middle with fitzsimmons, turpin, downes, minter, benn, eubank, pyatt and barker flying the flag for the brits, sure i had a couple more but cant remember at the mo

Matthews & Murray have both held lesser/paper titles at 160.

Featherweight really does not look to shabby either:

Hamed, Winstone, McGuigan, Robinson, Ingle, Hoko, McMillan and Harrison.

Harrison should and could have been a fighter a real note and consequence....such a pity.

Okay a bit dodgy but what about heavyweight ? Fitzsimmons, Lewis, Bruno, akinwande, hide and bent !

Light Heavy has(forgive me if I'm too broad with Wales) Andries, Conteh, Mills, Woods, Cleverly, Calzaghe, Fitzsimmons & Harvey. Probably more.
