Who would you like to see him fight and who do you think he will actually fight?

Defo need to step him up, but I still think there is no major rush, as he lacks experience.

A sensible but still ambitious schedule, fighting every 6 weeks:

Little
Towers
Lewison
Skelton

Looking on the boxrec rankings, the highest ranked british heavyweights that i can imagine Joshua boxing any time soon are Larry Olubamiwo and Shane McPhilbin , Maybe at a push Tom Dallas.

He Wont be risked with the likes of Sprott, Rogan , Skelton just yet imo, Of those i dont think Skelton or Rogan would be any problem, but maybe Sprott would be a bit of test at this stage.

Whenever someone asks this, the answers usually reflect people's desire to see four opponents of incrementally increasing skill. At Joshua's point in his career this isn't so necessary, but it would be fun if this year he went something like Tom Dallas, Travis Walker, Nicolai Firtha and then Dom Guinn for some rounds.

Towers would be a good option but I cannot see Towers going for it.

I say get Big John McDermott in with him.

experienced old pros are what Joshua needs so he can learn Skelton, Rogan, McDermott or similar international fighters.

Sexton at some point this year would be nice, Zack Page, & pretty much anybody that can take him 6-8 rounds without being a pushover.

Has anyone suggested Audley Harrison yet?

Of course not, Anthony's career would be over inside 3 rounds!


anyway, on a more serious note, i'd happily see him in with most of the names above. but i'd love to see him in with Hughie Fury, thats the fight I'd like to see them build towards within the next year or 2

obviously both will be kept apart while they continue winning and moving forward. but its one i want to see fairly soon

Danny Hughes of Sunderland would be an ideal match right now.

Think most of the names mentioned are a step too far at the moment, at the level he been boxing at he should be putting them to sleep not just RSC, need to treat this lad with kid gloves methinks.

I feel he needs at least one 'name' on his record by the end of the year. I can't see him learning much blasting guys out so maybe building up to someone like Rogan after a couple more fights isn't beyond possibility

I'd concentrate on top level sparring. The undercard fights are just a bonus.

What's happening with the British title anyway? Last I heard Price had it, does he still?

Anyone know anything about his next opponent for the ricky burns undercard? says on his box rec page its Hector Alfredo Avila

Personally I don't want to see him in with guys he is just going to blast away in a round or 2 and learn nothing from the fights - he needs tough, durable opponents.

He'd blast Shane McPhilben & Tom Dallas away within a round or 2
Martin Rogan would take him 2 or 3 rounds
John McDermott would be a good test could see him taking him 3-4 rounds

The problem with Joshua is he is levels above the McPhilben, Dallas' and Rogan's of the boxing world but you don't want to step him up to quickly - Sprott would be a good fight, very experienced and durable.

he won't fight Mcdermott he is out in April and will need at least a years rest after that.

He needs rounds (which at his current level inevitably means fighting a spoiler) and enough highlight reel stuff to keep the public interest bubbling. After Avila something like Zack Page, Tom Dallas (for the English), Evgeny Orlov and then John McDermott (for the British). That would leave the likes of Sexton, Towers, Sprott, Lewison if he wanted to make a rapid escalation to the Lonsdale.

Hugie Fury and Cornish and either very young or very green and the fight's are either unrealistic (in Cornish's case) or far too early (in Hugie's case). Price, Chisora and Fury all will have their eyes on Wlad retiring and then nicking a portion of what's left as the talent pool will be very shallow. If Joshua fights regularly, goes the English, British, Commonwealth, European route he could be an undefeated European champion after 18/20 fights and 30 months, who has fought regularly, sparred loads of top guys and built a huge following. Wlad will most likely have retired and he could well have the power, skills, experience and opportunity to be a long running champion. There is no need to rush. Wlad will be gone by the time Joshua will be well prepared for that level. Not his fault and not a reason to roll the dice on his part

Chisora was mandatory, but Price vacated, that was in December, there's been nothing from the board in the last two circulars, doesn't seem like there's anyone out there to fight for it, McDermott-Lewison would be the best option to me, just change it from English to British.
