Pickering looked okay last night, not quite as accurate as you'd like but he succeeded in frustrating the Spaniard and breaking him down. Indeed, it looked at times that Garcia Martin might burst into tears such was the lack of success he was having landing his own shots. Felt a bit sorry for him really.

Anyway, which of the 4 world champs has Esham got a chance against? I reckon you can forget Larios and Guzman for starters. Monshipour might just be a bit to strong and persistant, so that only leaves Israel Vasquez who I doubt many of us have seen.

It's a tough division for Pickering at world level.

Yes, but not as tough as Jim Neilly was making out, it is actually devoid of star talent.

I was actually impressed with Esham last night, I don't think he will get much better than what he is so bung him in with Vasquez or Monshipour now.

Forget the fight with McCullough, that fight will always sell whether he is successful or unsuccessful in his world title bid.

Esham just cannot hold a shot... this will always be his undoing.

even last night the little guy caught him a few times and Esham looked like a rabbit in the headlights...

12 rounds is a long way to not get tagged at all

Pickering is too easy to hit.

He actually walks into punches.

Coupled with a shaky chin, he wont become a genuine champ.

McCulloch would beat him, maybe even stop him.

Weak division or not, the top boys would murder him.

I havent seen any of the last 4 opponents hit him with a clean shot,he is always rolling and spinning out coming back in with fast counters.

Although I dont think Pickering is at his best yet he is doing very well.
Esham Pickering and Nicky Cook are doing us proud on the European scene.I think they both deserve support,at least they are genuine titles.

Pickering is a good mover but he seems to have something missing from what i see, he will struggle with the top guys i would suspect, he seems to get hit and stay hit for a few minutes and if that Spanish fella (game as he was) can hit you so many times then alarm bells are ringing! Plus how come Neilly said Martin was experienced?! He had 11 pro fights for goodness sakes...if he meant experienced because of all his amateur fights then why didn't he say so?

Guzman seems the star of the division these days - just hope a certain promoter doesn't continue to mess his career around.
His last fight sounded awesome - the blow out of Sanchez. Anyone seen it?

Pickering would be lucky to last one minute with Guzman.

Watched with interest last night. Pickering did OK in my book but I reckon it's a bit disrespectful that people are mentioning world titles and the like when he STILL hasn't proved he is the best in this country. Little fella called Michael Hunter could certainly answer that question.

PS - they should all leave Guzman alone. He is a stone cold killing machine.

You must have been on holiday when he fought Alfred Tetteh then.

Pickering nearly got decapitated in the opening round.

If anyone wants to see me on tv, at the end of the 2nd round in the fight when they go over to cookie, look in the corner and you will see me in the black, then i take a photo :P

I would actually consider placing a heavy wager on Guzman stopping Pickering in the first round.

I have only ever seen Pickering fight once and that was last night. He definatley looked the goods but against who?

Obviously, I need to watch him a little more before forming a proper opinion of him but out of the three world champions, obviously Israel Vasquez and Mahyar Monshipour are the safer bets. And Oscar Larios is whole different league alltogether.

And Pickering should stay the hell away from Joan Guzman for now. Guzman is easily the number 2 in the division in my opinion and for such a high risk fight, he doesn't even hold a legitimate title to make it worthwile.

Pickering for now should take a less risky, more winnable fight against Monshipour or Vasquez whilst also picking up a more prestisious title.

Even if Pickering were to somehow win the dreaded WBO title against Guzman, you have to wonder whether he will take the typical WBO route, defending the bogus title against nobody after nobody.

that guzman is a bad bad man. if i was eshram iwouldnt want to fight him. fortunately he only holds the wbo title but then again the ingle camp seems to love their wbo titles. nice, fake, & safe (except now guzman has it)
