I'm a Froch fan, thought he would have won the first fight and favour him slightly in the rematch, but did anybody else fear in the first fight that McCracken may have been close to throwing in the towel around the 5th or 6th round when Carl was eating a lot of flush right hands? It wasn't anything I saw from McCracken and maybe the commentary was influencing how I felt but did anybody else think the same?

I know Carl prides himself on his toughness and a KO defeat would probably haunt him forever, but given his advanced age and the fact that he's coming to the end of his career, could a strong case be made for McCracken throwing in the towel in the second fight if the first six rounds script is similar or worse than in the first fight for Carl?

It's my biggest fear for the rematch, another conclusive ending being taken. This fight has to end by KO or by decision. Even when a decision is wrong, as a fan I find that easier to live with than controversial stoppages which leave endless what ifs.

Thoughts? Is McCracken known as a man who will step in to protect his man if he feels it necessary? Had he done it before?

if groves starts like he did last time then i wouldn't be shocked if mccracken threw the towel in . in the first fight we were all a bit shocked at the way it played out but if froch gets dropped hard again and keeps taking them big right hands then any corner should think of the boxers health .

i think he would only throw the towel in as the Ref stops the fight , just to look as if he was looking out for carl

i think a fighter like carl will always be left to continue on reputation alone, seems to be rules for some and rules for others based on there Tough chin reputation

i think any ref will be scared to jump in and stop this fight though unless someones taking some major , major punishment slumped over the ropes ect

I think if Froch was about to be stabbed in the neck by George Rob would not throw in the towel. No way would McCraken throw in the towel for this fight, it just will not happen.

No chance. I think Carl's reputation as a warrior and battle hardened fighter and the fact he comes on stronger in the later rounds would come into it. Also the fact that one clean dig in Groves could change the course of the fight. We all know what happened in the Jermaine Taylor fight so no I don't think he would. Froch would rather "go out on his shield" if he did get beat but I can't see it myself

At no point in the first fight was the towel close to coming in. Mainly because Froch wasn't in that much trouble. He got knocked down heavily, sure, but he got up and fought on. The nutter was smiling when he walked back in to the first exchange after the knockdown.

I remember Arhtur talking to Jim Watt ringside I think when Gomez dropped him.
